It's still built on the same basic set of ideas, and to this day, some parts of environments created in the engine are plagued by the same type of geometric limitations as every other Q1-based engine.
I wholeheartedly agree. Source is heavily modded Q1. I think it's pretty shady that they gave it their own name after replacing enough code that they felt justified to call it a completely new engine. It's Q1.

Shugin "invented" countless other phenethylamines and tryptamines, and he documented the synthesis and experience reports thoroughly in a few different volumes that you can find on amazon.com. He was also a pioneering inventor of a massively popular pesticide which preceded other pesticides that are foundational components of modern agriculture.

I'll just say there are plenty of folks still communicating across mediums and spending time in interfaces where the the habit is still reinforced regularly. I'd probably do it more habitually if it wasn't for corporate email and places like slashdot. I'll also say that, for those who've spent more time communicating on IRC and in various games than we should have, the concept lends itself to a certain voice of familiarity. Like a biker's colors, perhaps? Maybe it's a little bit trivial to those outside of that realm, but I don't think it's meaningless.

You'd do well to respect the properly written word so as to avoid looking like a juvenile and to make what you write more readable. As to respecting writing that uses no capitals, it's like respecting bird shit on your windshield. It was a stupid fad that lasted way past its time and deserves no respect whatever.

The due respect this concept commands, in my humble opinion, is no more than the simple recognition of its place in the history and lore of our beloved internet community that you demonstrated adequately in your first paragraph. While a lot of people could envision the possibilities after seeing DOOM or Quake, it is really only now that we have general purpose hardware acceleration that things are actually flexible enough to be used as a creative medium without constantly being conscious of the technical limitations.
Two weeks ago, I pitched a proposal to develop some technology along these lines to the rest of the company. I may wind up working on some things like that in parallel with the next game project.

The Greater Caucasus Mountains where the Olympics are being held receive as much snowfall as any major ski resort in the US. It's just a bad year for them...sort of like Vancouver 4 years ago. I really don't understand the "subtropical" knock that everyone keeps repeating. This is a huge mountain range that gets tons of snow every year. Not considering climate change, the facilities they've built in the mountains will probably serve as a very nice ski resort after the olympics...

How is that more tellling? We've got an american hero in ben franklin who said that 'a penny saved is a penny earned," and many people believe in the superstition that finding a penny is good luck. Given these two things, it's not surprising or telling in the least that 76 percent of respondents would pick up a penny if they saw it on the ground.
