    Well, if it's just simple one-line passages of text we're talking about, then we're ok using an online translator, because the do well in those situations. However, if an American Solidier is relating the entire Iliad and Odyssey to a Polish soldier through this technology, there's going to be massive errors.

    Actually, when small passages of 1-3 sentences are translated only once (I would imagine from some language to English in this situation), online translators actually do well. For some odd reason large passages of text get messed up way more frequent than simple one-liners usually typed out in an IM window.

    If you noticed and RTFA'd, current implementations don't have the port numbers in any sensical order, which makes sense if you're making it hard to just simply port scan a machine. Therefore, just running nmap (or something similar) is now going to bw *MUCH* more difficult.

    Whoever did that was a fucking genious! Props to whoever it was. I never thought of doing something like that as DDoS, but then again, I have never been involved in such activities. Let's just continue to make Darl mad, that way he's more likely to mess up (kind of like an agry gorilla).

    This is the problem of windows in general. You see, program ABC and XYZ will run fine on machine A. On the next (machine B) programs JKL and XYZ do fine, and ABC causes a bsod. Not only are windows machines unstable, they're unpredictably unstable.

    First, how interesting how loudly programmers cry now when during the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs they said nothing.

    Second, if companies can send jobs overseas, and move their capital around whither they will, so too should workers be able to chase the jobs. I'm sure many folks here would be more than happy to code while sitting on a beach in Goa.

    Third, with video conferencing a CIO/CFO/CEO could really be anywhere in the world. So why not hire an Indian CEO with a degree from Stanford for $50K? Think of the millions the company would save! Hey, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
