Well i did do some searching on google, and you know what. I found lots of debates about the idea, but no laws being changed. Pot and crack are in slightly different categories, i know of alot of people against the idea of any legalized drugs (not the medical kind, mind you). As far as i know know, the US is putting pressure on other countries (such as columbia) to clean up thier act.
That doesn't make it ok though. Remember we have laws about people unintenionally killing people, and its still considered murder. Manslaughter comes to mind. And i believe there are laws against 'high risk driving' which will get you in trouble. Basically not being careful enough. One could argue US bombings are not being careful enough...
Sorry, i forgot that b/c England does something, that means that the entire world is also doing it. So how long before the rest of the world puts the steering wheels in cars on the right side? By your logic thats where the rest of the world is heading..
The Nazis were alot of things....but i don't think they fit under that category of 'terrorist.' I hate what they did as much as anyone, but stop trying to blur word definitions. Thats just as retarded as sayin ANY hacking into a computer system is a terrorist act.
And i think it has always been legal for Eurpoeans to burn US flags; in fact its still legal here i believe.
Yes, but the article wasn't talking about switching end user systems, it was talking about servers. Yes you still have to pay the staff, thats pretty obvious. But what they DON'T have to pay for anymore is software liceneses. Its pretty obvious you missed the point of the article. It didn't say switch to linux and ALL your IT expenses go away, it said it Amazon saved money on software licensing by switching.
My favorite quote from the article:
With Linux, customers "end up being in the operating systems business," managing software updates and security patches while making sure the multitude of software packages don't conflict with each other," Miller said. "That's the job of a software vendor like Microsoft."
I wonder if that guy knows about the largenumber of updates required for JUST windows 2000.
Actually i don't recall ANY linux software interfering with other linux software. But i do remember pc anywhere fucking up win2k pro (pretty badly), as well as virus scanning interfering with many things, and a host of other problems one software package caused when installed with another.
Maybe you'll feel different when someone accuses YOU of helping the terrorists. This kind of thing has happened alot in history. Do some research. Start in Russia with Stalin, Gemany with Hitler, and to a (much) lesser extent, the US with Mcarthyism.
What gets me is that these people now afraid for thier lives have always been in danger of dying. I'm sure through out the course of the day there are at least 5 things that could have killed someone (driving comes to mind..).
As one of my HS english teachers said, 'We begin dying the minute we are born.' We should just accept it, and realize no matter what we do, we will die.
We judge a book by its content, not its length. We should just our lives the same way, and simply enjoy each day. I hope the recent events have taught us just how important each day is.
tolerate the ads (what do they cost you anyway?!).
Bandwidth, time. I've found that its usually the ADS that keep the page from loading and finally displaying.
Your arguement is stupid. Does anyone feel obligated to sit through tv commercials? Should we change everyone down so that they do?
Besides, this software 'weapon' won't work. As soon as they figure out that maybe the reason the correct number of ads didn't display was b/c the image server timed out, or the user hit the stop button. Besides, the page loads first, before the images...so i don't see how it could work.
No, i think the simple fact of the matter is that just about anything can be used for good or evil, and so the maker of the tool should not be to blame since he cannot control other peoples actions. If encryption is to blame, then why aren't the other 'tool's they used to attack us? I feel very sorry that this happened, but blame the people that did it, not the tools they used.
The property you speak of however is not owned by humans, its owned by the company.
And human or not, those rights are lost as soon as i purchase said property from them. Once i buy a car, the dealer loses any right to tell me what i can do with that car.
I wonder if you could argue that since contract law is enforcable by the gov't, then enforcing a contract that limits speech is the gov't limiting speech. Any thoughts?
promoting peaceful interests might result in confusion or dissent against the US going to war.
Isn't it part of American culture that we ARE allowed to have dissenting opinions? I mean thats what free speech is all about isn't it?
Back to the issue at hand...many songs seem to be on there quite arbitraruly (sp?). So its ok that the news is constantly showing us the images of destruction but any song that even mentions are airplane is over the line? You have got to be kidding me.
People like having power. Its a simple fact of nature, and you don't need to be paranoid to believe it. The people in congress are there b/c they like power, and not only do they want to keep it, they want more.
Find me one gov't in the history of the world that has not abused its power against its own citizens.
Uh problem is you are. People are concerned about someone stealing thier identity b/c it DOES affect them, usually in terms of shot credit.

No, but they complain to me that their computer sucks ass, although they don't know why. Usually they think they did something wrong to it. Hmm..

As far as i know alot of other countries have similar alcohol and drug laws...not that i agree with them, but we are certainly not the only ones..

No, b/c most of the nations of the world have signed treaties saying they respect copyrights will be respected in any member country.

Actually isn't confomity a big part of Communism? Maybe you should move to Cuba, idiot.
Also lets not forget, people are willing to confess to anything if they're being tortured.
So yes, if you don't want the truth and just want to punish some possibly innocent people, go right ahead and advocate torture.

Unless Exxon was the only gas station in town...as is probably the case with a dsl provider.

keep honest people honest.
A truely honest person does not need to be kept honest....

But contract disputes/violates are handled within a court usually.

Probably the same reason Einstien felt guilty about helping build the bomb. There are both good and bad things that came out of his research.
MS is not a human, and therefore has no rights. Its not hard to understand.
Oh since you know so little about linux. How about trying Star Office or even gnotepad.

What is good taste for you might not be for me. If you find certain songs in 'bad taste' don't listen to the fucking radio.
