  1. Re:Plot and script-writers on Why Are Video Game Movies So Awful? · · Score: 1

Hollywood movies always seem to follow the same format, a number of prefabbed templates (and doom was no exception) I was excited about daybreakers but it ended up being another ultraviolet without milla :( the same format rich powerful corporate tycoon is always behind it. (ballistic? dude with all the power can call in the swat team at will? no press, cops, no one knows he exists?) Whats funny is if they even remotely followed the script of the game or book in most cases they would have have a decent picture. (LoTr, spiderman?) But instead we have crap like Dungeon siege in the name of the king... was that even a video game movie?

Agree. More time in schools is pointless if test scores are low and dropout rates are high compared to the rest of the world. School districts around the country, especially here in "Kalifornia" need a serious overhaul, that would make a LOT of people mad. More time in schools would only make Teachers and administrators earn more money, but would do little to improve the children's education.

Not an mp3 player, but something that SGI should have gotten a while ago, for the common computer or electronics user that was popular with the masses.

I have always drooled over SGI workstations but its something that I could never afford.
    A handheld media player,
A wintell Video card/proccessor chip that rocks at gaming
    openGL based console
    a 3d design suite
a giant hard drive/raid system affordable enough for home/small busness use (to store volumes of torrent dls)

whats funny is that some of those old "in the future" movies (i think total recall) both SGI, and XFL are not only alive but the defacto standard in Media and entertainment.

  20. Why they are suing microsoft. on Symantec Sues Microsoft, May Delay Vista · · Score: 2, Interesting

Here is the deal. I dont think that I am taking sides, but in a way, everytime im "fixing" a windows box, I wish with all my heart that MS had some kind of "security" or scanner that could detect or clean malware.

Vista is starting to have the workings of anti-malware/security right? (or its supposed to) and thats not a bad thing from the users perspective.

However, this is a bad thing for Symantec. Like the integrated browser "solving" the browser war, Vistas integrated features may make many portions of Symantec's software redundant. Yes, we want Windows to have some security, backup, spyware detections etc, (and even a virus scanner would be nice) but that would hurt companies who specialize in this! And, unfortuneate for semantic windows Vista will be the only OS of the near futre that would need a security/backup suite (ok maybe a few macs)

I think Symantec senses a possible "end is near" and is moving to head it off. Yes, i would like free builtin security tools but at what cost? Thousands of offshore outsourced jobs could be lost!

Now I will concede that the rootkit was pretty bad, but it would only affect you if you were on a Microsoft box, and since the rootkit was dependant on Microsoft(evil) technology, it is Microsoft, not Sony that is truly evil.
