You say you're happy with the current team, working on a pleasant project. I'd love to be in your shoes and unless you're getting paid minimum wage, which would suck, I'd turn down the offer.
Humans always look for ways to further complicate their lives, neglecting to live the moment and realize you don't always have to "climb the ladder" as you say, to be perfectly happy.:) Good luck with your decision!
As I said above, I didn't want to spoil the list when I submitted the story. Why? Gamespy pays you by the click or something? I don't see how putting the list on./ would spoil anything
I feel more optimistic imagining that others are quitting caffeine like I plan to and that some even succeded than being told by a doctor a couple of tips you can find in every book or article about quitting caffeine.
Also, even if this is slashdot, you can look for common pitfalls and patterns and stuff. I successfully quit smoking 2 years ago, thanks to a lot of will power and support from friends. The first time I decided to quit (4 years ago), I went to the doctor, he just asked what I wanted, I said I wanted to quit smoking but couldn't do without patches or a pill. He prescribed Zyban (an anti-depressant) and said good luck. That's all. That didn't help me at all and went back to smoking a pack a day.
Anyways, YES this is a good place to post this kind of questions, I AM interested and think it can help me and I'm sure others think the same.
I'm glad it didn't have to come to that for me to quit smoking. Yeah, I used them patches but it was because I love my friends, anyone who knows someone who quit smoking cold turkey knows what I mean:)
Anyways, I'm glad because at least I can feel prouder about having quit with littler help than those future vaccinated guys. Also, patches help you a lot psychologically because it's very very gradual. You have about four months to give up the patches and during that time you learn to kick off addiction, it's not just nicotine addiction, it's all the impulsions that make you an addicted person. In other words, I learned how to not substitude my nicotine addiction with alcohol/your favorite drug:). But if the end result with the vaccine is less smokers in the world, I'm all for it.
Hello gangien:) I wasn't trying to insult us citizens, I just told the guy that I have access to a variety of news channels from all around the world and there really is a difference in us channels versus all the rest. period.
Also, I was surprised by your strong reaction, as AC down there said, you really seem angry quite often;) (i took a look at your recent comments, and any opinion diverging from yours sets you off and even innocent comments triggers a paranoid reaction from you). I know I'll probably be modded down, but I'm replying anyways in hope you'll consider toning down a bit.
is there something fundamentally wrong with the USA when they think that showing dead people that they just killed on TV or watching the pornography of laser guided bombs hitting their targets killing REAL people live on TV is acceptable ?
Trust me, they don't show on their tv what they really do to the people in war, U.S. news stations censor the major part of that stuff. I guess they don't want the population to realize how inhumane their country's decisions are being. On the other hand, Canadian stations (where I am) and European stations show real dead people (which is a good thing, at least we're not bindfolded and we don't all think that going to war for the slightest reason is good).
I'm in no way a Christian fundementalist (I'm atheist), but I sure as hell (it's just an expression, I don't think that hell exists) get freaked out when a paragraph written some 2000 years ago depicts something happening now, even more when it warns about the catastrophic consequences of the act.
every time I use a web reference I make a hardcopy of it and include it in my research folder
When you give references, it's a way for your readers to verify that what you are saying is true (a least demonstraded by experts in you field). If the webpage disapeared and you only provide a piece of paper you printed yourself, it could as well have been written (completely invented) by yourself just to make your findings fit.
High school nightmare all over again! Damn, I was so glad those days of being unable to give the right anwers so people wouldn't pick on me were over..
Because if I want to buy the English version of a game, I can hardly tell which box has the English version in it because both versions have boxes written in both languages (predominantly French)...
Thank you for visiting Puretracks.com Currently our website supports Internet Explorer 5.0 and above on the Windows operating system, and is available to Canadian residents only.
We value our Mac audience, however the Windows Media player for the Mac platform is not currently compatible with Microsoft protected audio content. Puretracks is currently working to make our service available to Mac users.
Um... don't you have the choice to go to the store and buy CD's? Or do they mark everything except BNL and Moxy Fruevous as "Import"?
I'm in Canada and I've been waiting for an "imported" CD from the US to arrive since July:( And I ordered from HMV, the biggest canadian CD store, so can you imagine the rest of the stores?
You can't just go to a CD store and buy the CD you want all the time. I think that gives one more good reason to resort to other ways of aquiring the music you like...
Amen to you, stlhawkeye, that was a very good comment
It's at times like these I wish I had some mod points left
tsk tsk, such a poor joke
I mean, when all a guy can do is get a minimum-wage job at Mickey D's, it isn't like taking half his paycheck has much benefit for the government...
Well, at least it has a negative effect on the criminal
Also, putting the guy in prison doesn't have much benefit for the government either.
"I have a right to work as hard as possible or lose my job to someone else who will work just as hard for less."
You call that a right? I call that a burden.
The parent probably meant that he doesn't have to work his ass off to be assured of not loosing his job.
Also, you could work a lot (60+ hours a week) and still be half as efficient as a 35-40 hours worker, due to stress, fatigue and whatnot.
You say you're happy with the current team, working on a pleasant project. I'd love to be in your shoes and unless you're getting paid minimum wage ,which would suck, I'd turn down the offer.

Ask your doctor rather than ask Slastdot.

1- This article was also posted here weeks ago (ok, we all know /. loves dupes)
2- The article is posted 1h45 minutes before midnight, when no shop is open, and too late for online delivery.
I'm glad it didn't have to come to that for me to quit smoking. :)

How about no present at all ? :P
Hehe, I don't mind at all, though

I'm sorry, but the parent's comment is quite funny. :/
He doesn't deserve to be modded down. There, mod me down instead
I can assure you she has no more than a B

That would be a cool and totally original name!

What's internet2 ???
Getting respected by /. community != getting to list your shareware project in your resume, dumbass.
Why didn't he release it under an alias?
For the same reason you don't post anonymous on slashdot
We can all go back to HTML 1.0 and Lynx right?
Right.
