since an ssh client logs in to a remote computer and the aliases are on the remote machine, local command aliases are not going to help. an unless i totally don't understand the question.
what i can tell you want is a client that will read "dir" as you type it in and on the remote machine run "ls -lh" or something. i have never seen anything that would allow you to do that.
i see no way of setting aliases without deploying it locally to each server, unless you have a roaming home directory.
not to mention all the compatibility with all the firm's engineers, consultants, etc. I have not looked at any of the cad programs for a long time, but as far as I know, none have the functionality like the versions of AutoCAD (Architectural Desktop, etc) Is that still the case?
they base market share on downloads right? now with automatic updates, i know i don't download a new version every time there is a bug fix or a new nightly build. if this is a common trend, downloads for firefox would be less and therefore appear that less people are switching. of course this would also mean that past market share results would be inflated. to be honest, i always thought they were inflated anyway.
Because once you get grub or elilo working with EFI, you would be able to boot what ever you want, windows, linux, whatever, since both of those boot loaders understand how to load windows. Would it really be that easy or am I missing something?
I guess technically then linux would win that race.
Install cygwin with the X server. log in to your box at home with ssh -X user@host and use the firefox version you have on the box there. you could pretty much work off any box with that setup.
I would have a problem if my bank wanted to run some software on my computer. But that is me, and I am sure alot of the/. crowd. However, the basic user may not care about viruses. If their software finds a virus/spyware app it should remove it free of charge, it also should point the person to somewhere to get a good reliable AV software. It is in the bank's interest to keep the computer virus free, since if your account is accessed and used fraudulently, they are going to replace the money in your account. Anything to prevent a several hundred dollar loss if it costs them $.05 it would be worth it to them.
yes, they are people. however, until they leave my house, they will follow my rules, and if a way to enforce those rules is to not have a certian channel available to them, so be it.
First, this has nothing to do with conservatives "stamping out indecency". And what do you care if I tell my kid he can't watch mtv or some other thing that as a parent I find inappropriate for a person his age.
And he will not be watching the WWE, it is not "good ol hometown entertainment".
This is about giving people choices, I thought that was a good thing.
From an email I got 2 weeks ago "We've made it easy for you to check your 911 coverage. If you dial 933 from your Vonage phone, TCS's VoIP Verify service will inform you how your emergency calls will be routed and what information you should be prepared to provide to the emergency services operator."
i could say the same thing, it seems that some people take the word of scientists and do not do investigation in either side of a debate. I don't know about you, but some people in my experience do not bother to do any of their own thinking on some issues, they take the word of scientists, politicians, etc at face value and then end up being mindless drones. Don't call me ignorant or stupid because I have looked at the evidence and come to a different conclusion.
Ozone is formed by the reaction between oxygen and ultraviolet light. The reason the holes are over the poles is that it is dark during the winter. As soon as spring comes around, the hole will close.
has it occurred to you that without oil right now, our economy goes down hill and fast?
People are not able to just drop their cars and buy an electric. one they do not exist for sale, two if they did, the range is about 100 miles, and it is still based on oil and coal -- unless you want nucleaer plants built which is the only technology mature enough at this point to actually work. There will not be an abrupt transition, it wont happen, we need to expand the oil infrastructure and address the vulnerabilities that exist in that system. I think there should be a shift in our energy sources but it cant happen all at once, it will have to be a smooth, gradual change over many years.
I agree with some of that. 1. Sustainable energy resources are years away. It is going to be a slow transition from gasoline and oil. While having a sustainable energy source is all good it doesn't help the problem right now and won't help the problem for many years to come.
2. We need to improve our oil infrastructure. More refineries, another port that can dock and unload supertankers. We know this from IT -- redundancy is a good thing.
Also, this is not a global warming problem. We have had hurricanes as strong if not stronger than this one. Camille, Betsy... most of the strongest hurricanes on record were prior to 1960. Hurricanes in the Atlantic have been known to be on a cycle. There is a long time when there are few hurricanes and they are less severe and then the frequency increases for about 20 years while the salinity of the atlantic is up.

shouldn't that be Meet the *new* boss, same as the *old* boss
i mean, that's the lyric

Why, that program sucks, and I *like* lotus notes.

Notes has had tabs for a very long time. It's nice to see that other people think that is a usefull feature.

"close" should not be an argument in a debate
even your comment disagrees with that. "acts as a multicellular organism"
i dont think fish are bacteria "acting like fish"
i hardly call the re-classification of an existing life form evidence of evolution.
what was the slime mold before it was a slime mold? What did it evolve from?
it's big of you to resort to name calling

In this universe, we OBEY THE LAWS OF THERMODYNAMICS especially the second one.
no, they evolve, but they remain a bacteria.
show me a bacteria that has become a fish
Actually, you'd think the libs would fight the "evil corporation" that is Microsoft and force them to support OpenDocument.
but then you have to put the sandwich down to continue to play the game. you could actually *eat* the sandwich and play a text based game
so what, duping a key is dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb?
