It seems to me that people are complaining because creationism / intelligent design can not be proven. It is a theory, sure it is based on faith to some extent but it is still a theory. As is Evolution. Evolution is a theory about how the universe came in to existance. It is no more provable than creationism / intelligent design. Sure there is a fossil record but still that record is being interpreted from a certain perspective and there are some unexplained gaps.
Unfortunately, all we can do is interpret the evidence that we have available to us. We are not able to know what has happened to our planet or our universe hundreds of thousands or billions of years ago. All we have is the evidence, and it can be viewed many different ways.
I see this being a problem for both theories. The creation story in the Bible could be interpreted literally or it could be all symbolism and be interpreted differently.
While not free, Cracker Barrel restaurants allow you to buy a book on tape and return it at any location for the purchase price - $4 per week you have the tape.
And there are Cracker Barrel's at about every exit ramp (well, not really, but it seems like it sometimes)
Hard drives would then become overly complex. Essentially, to do that would require one head per track and each size would have different numbers of heads needed.
A hard drive with 8000 cylinders and 4 platters would require 16000 heads
From reading TFA and the blog. It appears that he is complaining about the low quality of components that dell and sony are putting in their computers. (I use dell and sony because they are the ones mentioned)
Now some people would disagree, but if you want to avoid hardware issuses, buy an IBM. Support is better, hardware is higher quality and of all the problems I have had to deal with that I can remember with IBM's only one could not be somehow attributed to user error/abuse.
As far as my G4 is concerned, it is off right now. I have not seen this many kernel panics and general freeze ups in a long time. (My 3 year old IBM has now been on continuously for a month or more and it only was rebooted cause we had a power shutdown) I blame apple actually, it never had a problem until I decided to install the new version of quicktime.
In short, nothing is perfect, don't get suckered in to a great deal on a computer, they probably cut corners. If you buy low quality hardware, expect to have low quality of results.
Won't they learn? people don't want players that have all this extra stuff on them.
Sure divx was a way to "rent" dvd's but it amounts to the same thing. People want to feel like they actually own a movie. Asking permission to watch a movie is not what the public wants.
My experience with blockbuster has been about the same. But then again, I am also only 100 miles or so from the distribution center. It's in CT I think.
As long as it doesn't look like a freakin' child's toy, it's much better. I swear, they were afraid of hard corners on windows, like it is going to put your eye out or something.
Pick your format and make a high quality rip (256kbps mp3 for example) then if you want a wma or ogg or whatever burn a disc and re-encode it for that file format. you arent going to get any problems with converting from one file format to another and quality should be no worse than the original file.
If you are using a low end Aiwa system there are no cables that are going to improve sound quality. However, if you are using Sony ES or Denon components or the like, a cable upgrade would be very usefull.
2. Which monster cables are we talking about?
The $30 best buy cables or the Ultra Series THX 1000 interconnects that cost $200? The $30 ones are not going to be any different than the $30 cables from another brand, they may be comparable with that brand's $10 cables. And any upgrade over the cables that came in the box will be worth while since as a rule those suck.
Any cable that can reduce capacitance over their length is going to be an improvement. Capacitors are used in crossovers to limit upper response. If any cable acts as a capacitor, the upper response of the audio will be affected.
3. What is your listening level?
If you can't tell a difference between a 160Kbps mp3 and a 192kbps mp3, upgrading cables may not make a noticeable difference to you.

Because I will check personal email accounts around 3-5 times a day. But my work email account gets checked much more than that.
I am not any more "addicted" to checking my work email than my personal email accounts, I just have to check it or else my work never gets done.
