    "Proportional" doesn't mean "identical".

    Remember when Kissinger cut the Soviet's legs out from under them with an intelligence briefing to communist China? Look it up. It was devastating to Soviet strategy.

    There's lots of embarrassing data we have on Putin and lots of ways it can be easily used to hurt him.

    Now finding someone in the administration clever enough to use it... that may be difficult.

    Naw, that's just ridiculous. Snowden is not stupid and he did not keep the stuff with him.

    How do you know that?

    I honestly can't decide whether I think he's a hero or a villain because we just don't know if he took it with him or if he limited the scope of what he stole to only data about domestic spying.

    You don't understand. When you can append "using a cell phone" to any behavior it becomes news all over again.

    I'm pretty sure I saw this in the movie National Treasure over 10 years ago - and I doubt Hollywood invented the idea so it's probably decades old.

    Could you explain why? Since the ISP supplied the modem and your packets all travel through their tubes anyways, what additional vulnerabilities do you have by using their router?

    Serious question. I stopped scrutinizing my home networking gear when everything seemed "good enough", so apart from the fact that my isp could have me pwnd a number of different other ways, why should I be particularly worried about using the freebie router?

    A chat run by a charity. In the UK.

    'Rich people having fun' does have its merits. It may be an inefficient use of capital, but it can still advance science and stimulate the economy.

    Certainly it's preferable to 'Rich people sitting on their wealth'.

    Where do you shop? Costco has them around $0.35 per pod. Even The super premium brands are under $1 per cup.

    When you factor in the cost of living in CA, $70k doesn't go all that far....

    Maybe not, but it beats the median household income in California by about $10k source. And it beats the median 1-earner income by $20k.

    If teachers make $22k in Brevard, FL, that's pretty tragic, but this lawsuit is about teachers in California, who can be well compensated, depending on the district they're in. Also, as the post you responded to pointed out they get extremely generous benefits. It's easy to disregard them as you did, but the pension contributions and lifetime medical benefits are unimaginably expensive.

    3 providers? Aren't there 4?. AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-mobile. T-mobile even dropped the contracts - sort of.

    Also, there are an increasing number of no-contract and prepaid services that are becoming credible contenders.

    Metro PCS, Virgin Mobile, Boost mobile, Straight Talk, Net 10. There are MVNOs for every one of the major services so you could stay with AT&T's network if you want.

    Personally, I switched my family from AT&T to Ting 4 months ago (yeah, shamelessly putting my referral link in there). AT&T bill for a really pared back plan was $110, the Ting bill has averaged $40 and it's a better plan. But you do have to buy the phones.

    That kind of element should not be blocked. A popup-like div does a fine job of alerting the user to something but isn't nearly as persistent or irritating as a javascript alert or a new window. Even if it's modal to the window it still dies when you navigate away from the spawning page.

    Think about what you're saying. Think about it from Apple's perspective.

    Kids don't wear watches.

    Hundreds of millions of kids. No watches.

    And no competition.

    That sounds like a market ripe for exploit by someone who already owns the hearts and minds of half the population.
