Nope, the law is if you're USING the device to recieve broadcasts. IF you're using it for other purposes (Camcorder, DVD player etc) you don't have to pay.
I have a TV but have nothing in the form of an aerial or lead in my flat, so i don't even get a slight temptation to watch it. the result? Sometimes i can be bored, but instead of watching mindless tv, i sit and read and/or educate myself about something. Not bad really.

I just checked the site. Amazing to see that David (dgl) is still working on that app. I used to help him with testing plus a bit of skinning quite a few years ago now. He's a clever lad and always willing to help.
MY athlon 1.4 overheated last night (Really really rattly broken fan gave up i think) and it burnt the whole text of the top of the chip onto the heatsink. plus there was lots of crumbly stuff coming off all over the processor... waaa...
In Brighton here in the UK, the wireless scene is pretty thriving. We have a few little orgs that provide totally free access. The first, http://wireless.looseconnection.com/ provides access in various cafes and pubs, and another, http://www.piertopier.net/ provides access all along the main part of the beach(!). There's also a few more places providing some in public gardens etc.
It's all free and very well maintained.
And yes, bristol has a great free W network going all the way down park street. I used to live there.

No. it's very, VERY specific and isn't a vague psychology thing. It's a wiring of the brain which means by all definitions, you are in the spectrum of autism. It is of course, much more common among geeks.
The biggest thing about it is that it's something INSIDE the person's head and not always obvious externally. The people who diagnose know what they're talking about.
Goldeneye was an absolute breakthrough in console fps's. Absolutely incredible game. Perfect dark was also very VERY good but it did lack the certain girttyness and atmosphere that goldeneye oozed.
I haven't been to france for about 5 years. I really miss the place, especially the restaurants where you, like you say, can just sit for hours and hours chatting and enjoying the early evening/late afternoon sun setting over the vines.
*sigh*
So offtopic, but come on, french restaurants in the countryside ARE the best.
in the UK years ago when 56k was coming into unmetered land, there were isps claiming 'UNLIMITED, UNMETERED ACCESS', to which they fucked over and still said in T's and cs that they defined unlimited and that if you used it too much you'd get pulled off the service. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Unlimited eh?
I'd agree heavily. When the women in the UK are beautiful, they really are BEAUTIFUL. True english roses aren't as rare as people think.
The climate is great, yes. I don't care about the rain. In fact, what I love about the UK is the localised weather. I used to live below a range of hills (the mendips) inland in somerset and it rained all the time, but had SCORCHING summers.
Now i live far south england in Brighton (flat 300 yards from sea) and we get the most incredible sunsets, beautifully sunny mild winters days, plus very quick showers. I love it.

Yeah good luck getting a decent goldeneye, considering most of the geniuses behind that f'd off whilst rare was still a half decent company.
Good man/woman, agreed.

I FOUND NEMO! Phew.

The app is also *brilliant*
"oh! oh no! they're spotted me!"
I get this bug and it's an absolute nightmare at times and is SO hard to replicate as I still don't know the cause.
"rupert, did you know gullible isn't in the dictionary?"
"what? it really isn't? Oh Touche old chap!"
SWEET, im getting an audi!!!
I fill mine with media center plus use it as a secondary file server. I'd say that was a good use of the harddrive :-).
very english, full of crap, but strangely appealing to many

The gods will strike you down for talking badly of goldeneye. Nasty person.
ah bullcrap. theyre all just little attempts to try and replicate 'the goldeneye effect' (note: they cant)
i follow this too.

That's the first time on slashdot I've actually seen a decent analogy. Wow. Have a biscuit!
