they are probably just adding cybercrime as a flashy recruit word
I'd imagine if they were planning something questionable, they wouldnt have put it in their mission statement, but rather added it to the already lengthy list of 'black projects'
Considering engineers already secretly print pitures of things right in the chip... how hard would it be for intel to engineer the CPU itself to do the dirty work? Why would adding another chip from the same company to the board bring worries that arnt already there?
Open up your box and have a look at all of those chips, do you trust every one of those comanys?
I dont think you have ever actualy tried.
I play Neverwinter Nights under linux nativly, with about 10fps more compaired to windows.
Not to mention, Steam/Counter-Strike/TFC/DoD and all of those mods work... Baldurs Gate! Homeworld!
C'mon, you can play a good majority of games under linux these days... Though, you will run into some that dont... FF7 =(
Well, Linux is Linux, its the distros that you seem to have problems with... But thats the point of different distros, and even linux... You can do shit any way you want, or pick a distro that does it the way you want...
OSS on the other hand... I'd have to agree, OSS is a bitch.
Yes, because as we all know, geekness comes from using the L1nuX Operating system and if it looks remotly like sometihng Microsoft has done, it is obviously flawed, useless, and üngeek...
Anyways, apart from that, It does look promising. And considering its visual similaritys to IE, it does pose a threat, because its alot easier to get used to, then say, Opera or Mozilla... Plus tabbed browsing!! (Why hasent MS added a feature like this yet... they have it in practicly every MS Office app...)
Anyways, Its downloading now, and i'll give it a shot... just because its not skinned to look l33t doesnt make it a bad app...
Surely they know the great bulk of those are downloaded.
They sure do! and thats why they sold it! All the movie pirates out there will love to own one of those boxes, and alot of them probably do...
They just want to support a new standard so they can cash in on all the new dvdplayers people will 'have' to buy...
And, its not up to the consumer anymore. Fuck the Consumer. Even if you educate 99% of all consumers out there, that wont stop the movie industry from switching formats, and cashing in on all you Starwars geeks that'll buy the whole set again. Err... and us LotR geeks too =(
Point is, the consumer has no more control. Its not about finding new intresting things... its just about what people like and how many ways they can resell it.
Infact, i'd bet good money that the internel memos floating around the HP and Philips CEO's desks says it doesnt realy offer any real benifit to the consumer, but the company will make a shitload.
Maybe if MS just fixed IE they wouldent need to charge their customers more money to fix a problem that is caused mostly by the lovable and exploitable IE.
i noticed my Microsoft Intellimouse Optical's windowz drivers where contacting a MS ip address (207.46.249.222)

No, they probably wont put a waiting period for any.com owners to register the new.tld with the same name,
Yes, the lawyers could probably take the matching.tld from anyone
3. The computer system of claim 1, further comprising: a cursor control device for coordinating user input via a cursor displayed in said graphical user interface; wherein said cursor operates on contents of said window when said window is in said opaque state, and said cursor operates on objects underlying said window when said window is in said first translucent state.
They are trying to patent the ability to turn one window transparent, and manipulate the windows under it, without the transparent window 'dropping' below the ones you are manipulating.
I dont think that type of thing has ever been done before...
Perhaps software patents should have a much shorter life span? (say, 3 years?) it would give the company that 'discovered' it time to develop the 'technology' first, but wouldent blanket the whole computing industry for too long

If he didn't want to pay for it, he shouldn't have poked it.
