    You are exactly correct Sir. Any hacker worth his or her salt would use ANOTHER PERSONS NETWORK, on a CLEAN COMPUTER. But we all know that of course, and this isn't any surpise to any of us that some non-anonymous hacker is now under investigation...

    Remember what your peers on here have said about slights committed by police officers. Give the guy/gal on the defense an extra benefit of the doubt, they really need it in cases where the police take it apon themselves to "help" get a conviction.

    Yeah. That's not a problem. The law isn't to prevent the infringer from gaining, but to prevent the copyright/trademark holder from losing. They still owe the copyright holder for damages done (assuming they're found to be infringing).

    Right, and the current number of users they have are using their program, instead of something made by the original copyright holder, because they (may have) violated copyright. It could be argued that all past, and future, income was derived because of their copyright violation... Also, in civil court, you only need to prove the possibility that this is the case.

    My post was pointing out the fact that the designers of the game used Scrabbles notoriety to attain the position that they are now in.

    Of course it only applies to law enforcement. My post was pointing out the fact that the designers of the game used Scrabbles notoriety to attain the position that they are now in. Not that I think it would be a good thing, but my gut tells me the civil system will work in that matter...

    In the same way an officer/DA can't use evidence that was obtained illegally, would scrabulous (former name) legally be allowed to reap benefits sown from their illegal use of tradmark/copyright? Something tells me there will be another lawsuit coming...

    Should be an automatic 10 years. It is just not acceptable, yet everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, the judge, the DA, the other cops, they all condone it. We won't be a free country until this is stopped...

    I heard something going on behind my apartment complex. I looked out the window, and a cop was beating a guy in the face with a collapsable baton. He continued doing this for a couple minutes, then walked the guy back to the car, face bloody and crying, and drove off like it was nothing. Even at that time I was thinking to grab our family video camera but didn't do it. Knowing what I know now, face strikes are never to be used as they can most often be fatal, he didn't call for any backup, so the man wasn't resisting... Just messed up all around, even if the guy "had it coming". Other than that, I've never had any problems with police and they have been angels (rolls eyes).

    On this same note, is there a camera currently in the market that broadcasts and pushes the footage to an FTP server using wireless? Something like this would be great at rallys and whatnot, as the police beat you and think they are taking your camera and film, the video is being pushed to a wireless access point and then onto a secured server, far, far, away...

    Ah yes, the tax savings... There won't be much left to save after Uncle Sam takes away all his money for giving up his citizenship here. This was also covered by Slashdot (or a reader) a while back... BTW, Canadian taxes are actually a little lower than ours, and they get free healthcare! taxes in Canada.

    That a lot of the people here see dry ice, white and solid like the stuff found on mars, and the fact that dry ice subliminates in our atmosphere, and come up with the idea that the white stuff must be solid CO2 and not water. Of course this is completely fallacious logic, as the pressure and temp in the area make it physicaly impossible for CO2 to be a solid (if temp/pressure data is correct)....

    Given an appropriate sample size, taken at different times throughout the day, one can say with a specific certainty who won or who didn't. When the exit polls (done properly) and the electronic votes disagree (and its statistically significant), you most likely have tampering. As was done our last election ;-)...

    One of the inspections that may have some trouble with automation is checking the frame. I know helicopters, and I would assume airplanes as well, have paint that flakes to a different color if there is a problem with a weld, so one can tell right away that a joint is dangerously close to failing. I don't see your average mom and pop commuter doing such an inspection each and every time they fly...
