Alamo Drafthouse's policy seems to make perfect sense. They also have a very strict policy with regards to cell phones (and even better commercials;-) ), so it would only make sense for them to extend the ban to other devices that distract from the viewing.
It seems a bit unfair to throw CLANG into the mix with these games:
CLANG was started by the author Neil Stephenson, and people are surprised how, by golly, the guy doesn't know the intricacies of game development (and its costs)?
I found it incredibly strange to see how succesful that Kickstarter was, since it's the same as a reknown gamedesigner asking money to write a book...
The other examples are people who have been veterans in the gamedesign industry, and whereas not automatically flawless, they will at least also know about the possible pitfalls of development.
Not entirely true: When someone makes a screenshot within the alotted time the picture is visible (the sender can set the amount of time it's visible), you can still make a normal screengrab (only have experience with an iPhone here), but it will notify the sender that a screenshot has been taken. The iPhone does not need to be unlocked for it.
"As a gamer, I'm of two minds about the whole thing. I really don't like it but I may roll over eventually and join the herd because I could get used to it."
And that's your problem right there. Why is everybody expecting that sticking to your principles doesn't need something in return?
25 euros (it was 20 pounds for me in the UK) is ridicilous as an 'administrative fee', and as such it can't be said that the unlocking is 'free'.
I hate it how they're getting away with these overinflated fees:-/
The dirty thing (at least in the UK) that the providers do is actually -charge- you for giving the unlock code -after- your contract expires.
Since an unlocked phone sells for a bit more in the pawnshops, I wanted it unlocked after my contract ran out.
Vodaphone wanted to charge me 20 pounds for what I considered to be my right to be done for free, so told them to fuck off and unlocked it myself (thought other means).
At first I wanted to fight this extra charge, but figured it would cost me way more personal time, than the actual 20 pounds it would have saved me.
But yeah, very dirty. Then again, even though they were offering me a cheaper subscription for the other phone I bought, I purposedly went with another carrier (but I don't think they lost any sleep over it; I'm assuming that most people will gladly pay the fee to get it unlocked:-( )
Bullshit: The sentence 'That's so gay' to mean something is bad, only showed its head at the end of the 90's.
I'm willing to be proven wrong, so waiting for you to provide some actual proof.
Hell, if something was gay in the olden days, it used to be merry/cheerful.
But as said, willing to be proven wrong...
We experimented with those a few times, but you get people working around that.
In the end banning (or kicking) was as much a statement one can make to say it wasn't acceptable on our servers.
"Have you ever seen what happens in online games/communities" ; You didn't need to add the rest. It's all part of Gabe's Internet Fuckwad Theory.
Though to be fair; I kinda hate how the word 'gay' (to depict something to be bad) seems to have started in online games (or that's where I first picked it up), and now also seems to be common ground in real life.
When I still used to admin a gameserver, I used to explicitly ban people for that (after giving one warning). Seems to be a lot harder to do in real life:-/
Yes, was indeed from 2.4 to 2.5, and was long due.
Right now I'd say that it's a lot easier to use, though for a newbie it still takes some time to get used to the whole swapping around of the left- and right- mousekey.
Blender is one of the few open source tools where in the long run I could see myself permanently switching to it (currently also using 3DSMax/Maya).
For now it suits me perfectly for making renders, but game compatibility still seems to be a chore.
One of the downsides of it being open source, or better said: free, is that a lot of plugins aren't made commercially, and as such no support is to be expected.
It happened a few times over the years where I was working on a game/modification, and a new version of Blender would completely break a plugin (for instance, for properly exporting animated MD3-files), and no official update of said plugin would be made. Thus having to choose between working with an outdated modeling app, or going back to 3DSMax.
I hope that the future will bring more dedicated plugin writers; or better, native exporting support for the various games on the market.
It depends on what you have selected in your Options: You can choose which tab you like to start with.
As for myself, with so many one-day-deals going around, I prefer to have the shop open on startup.
There are already a few iPhone apps out there that do this: You put your finger over the lens, the flash-LED-light goes on, and then it takes your heart rate in under ten seconds. They also do this by measuring color differentations.
So I don't really get what's new about this.
Btw, the app is called 'Heart Rate' (www.instantheartrate.com)
Damn, I feel like the MyPCAntiVirus-dude now...
With the amount of precautions they took (I'd say it was too much) with the Friend-codes having to be entered on previous generations of their console, only to be able to play a coop-game, I deem it unlikely that this chatting will be fully open.
So I don't think that the comparison with the unfiltered Chatroulette is making sense.
Hmm, previewing before posting makes sense; " and even better commercials "

I work hard. I worry about retirement, about having kids. I can't AFFORD to spend "extra" to go green.
;-)
The cheapest and most effective thing you can do is considering to -not- have kids.
Just saying.

Be sure to watch it until the end: Fantastic :-)

I'm reading some of your other comments: Do you ever make anything other than negative unsubstantiated comments?
and to be clear; Nor was any other swearing allowed.

They didn't, because that didn't happen.
The above interview took place about a year ago.

But fuck: I'll take another four years of Obama then...
In a few years we'll see this :-(
How about 'free'? I still have a copy because, as said by the other commenters, you get a free copy of TL1 with TL2.
... Neuman!

I can't help myself but see Keanu Reeves as Ted saying "woaaa".
What kind of clown posts these things?!
Oh... Ronald. I'm sorry dude.
