  1. Tired of updates on PS3 Hacker Claims He's Jailbroken 3.60 Firmware · · Score: 1

I'm tired of the constant updates from Sony that have no benefit or effect upon me using my PS3. I'm ok with them trying to stop someone from jail-breaking the system but the lousy download speeds from their server really make it kind of inconvenient. A 176MB download at 50-100/kbs? Come on, seriously?

I brought home a game yesterday only to find that they wanted me to sit around and update the firmware AND the game. I updated neither and guess what? The beasties suffered from my holy wrath all the same! Of course, I cannot gloat by sharing my trophies with the world but, then again, I kind of like being an unsung hero.

My company hired me for a position that was vacant for more than 6-8 months because they couldn't find anyone qualified enough - irrespective of nationality. I've spoken with the HR and my immediate senior and they wouldn't have hired me, for MORE than what they were willing to pay anyone else to do the job.

I don't want to stereotype Indians but all of the ones that I've worked with are extremely talented. I have no doubt that you are worth your salt and then some. Americans that are unable to locate a job take offense at foreigners coming over and doing work that they are capable of doing, or so they think. The arguments that are made against the outsourcing of jobs are, for right or wrong, generalized into the arguments against the importing of workers. You will have a difficult time in convincing an unemployed American (or a citizen of any nation) that it is acceptable to bring in a foreigner to fill a position in times of high unemployment.

The original post is racist. You could debate it all day long but it clearly makes a distinction between Americans and Indians, and how one is somehow magically responsible for driving the salaries down, when he's doing nothing different than the other.

I would not debate that at all. I would however lean towards the word nationalism over racism due to the nature of the discussion even though they often go hand-in-hand.

If the companies scam by listing out ridiculous requirements for job positions, don't they apply to Indians as well? Are you suggesting Indians are generally more skilled than Americans? If you are, then I can see you have explained why an H1B hire could be of more value than an American. And not only are you racist, you're ignorant

I take it by the intensity of your post that you either are an H1B hire or have friends who are.

Ridiculous requirements mean that they cannot find Americans or Indians to fill the positions. This allows them to then proceed to HIRE and TRAIN low level programmers. One of the places that can support the vast number of low-level programmers happens to be India.

Short posts are not capable of holding an argument that could take up the space of a book so people give shorter summaries. You might want to hold back the racist and ignorant comment till you think about the situation a little more.

Maybe I'm a bit old school but "the cloud" was a term for the inconsistent path that data would follow as it traveled from one point on the net to another. We already have terms such as remote, off-site, WAN, out sourced, etc. to describe such an environment, each of which is more accurate for any particular situation. When I hear someone state "we are implementing a cloud based solution" I inwardly laugh because I'm applying the old definition. What we have is a lame advertising buzzword that has gone mainstream. I patiently await for the term cloud to follow the word bling into the...well, I can't say cloud, into the void. I vote we call it the void instead of the cloud.

    • Each Meter allows you to insert a card to start the meter
    • Insert your card before you leave.

Shouldn't be to hard to find someone with that information. Do you think its easy to get a job with GM, Ford or Chrysler? Sorry, its not exactly easy even if you've got a family member thats been working with the company for 30 years. Unless you consider a lottery for who gets to put their family member on the list easy.

How about getting a nice job with a local company that does outsourced work down the street from a big three plant? Sorry, those are almost gone too..gone to where might you ask? Well, its not India but its close enough.

If you're going to complain about outsourcing, pay attention to it all across the board. Oh, you like your jetta? You don't like outsourcing to India? Perhaps you should reconsider your argument. I drive an american vehicle and it makes me angry that so much of it is manufactured overseas. But the big boys need their profit margin.
