    I think a lot of the time when people mention "Open Source"...they mean OSS as well as FS. The reason they don't say "Free Software" is that most PHBs, Grandmas and Joe Sixpacks think "free beer" and not "freedom"...Open source portrays the "freedom" aspect better than free software does, at least as a name for the movement. I think even without RMS's Idealism and the stigmata associated with that, "Open source" is a better way of describing what we do.

    Exactly. Ogg vorbis happens to be my codec of choice, simply because it sounds better with higher compression rates. I really wish a bigger community would see that, though i would hate to see the codec twisted by some hacked-in DRM...

    While this would be a good idea, first of all would fail (think WebTV) and second of all would need a different name. The people over at Move would have a problem with a name so similar.

    That's exactly it...the RIAA used their software for a purpose that wasn't in the liscence...they have nothing else, and i believe a last stand is in order...

    There are many Roundabouts in southern New jersey and Maryland...and they seem to cause more accidents than streetlights, it's just not worth the few minutes saved waiting. Also, 4-way stop signs are common there, and are very annoying. I happen to like streetlights, as long as they are programmed to turn colors efficiantly.

    Not true...in America's Army (My FPS of choice)...the sniper rifle is a very difficult weapon to master, and leaves you very adept to attack...there is almost no way of defending yourself at close range.

    The reason earlier free unix clones took off was because they were Actually free. Linus had opened his code to the masses before linux really took off, and the guy who wrote skyOS wrote he will absolutely never do this. Baleeted.

    exactly, and if we want better support than that, at least we have the unified (binary only) driver (with wrappers)...i am very happy with my GeForce 4 under linux thankyou very much

    macOS X's pretty gui still sits on top of the Darwin kernel, remember...it is not part of the os, just an iterface to it...
