Once you have burnt your music or video onto the blank disc in the usual way, you create your label design on your computer using a graphics program supplied by LightScribe. Then you flip the disc over, and the recording laser burns the image onto the blank label side as the disc rotates. And if you forget to flip the disk over before you try and burn the label on it you probably destroy the data you just burned! I hope the firmware checks to make sure you DID flip the disc over first!
My daughters computer died and the mother board was replaced. Maybe the service shop took care of the windows issue, we had no problems. I also added more ram, no problem. I even RE_INSTALLED windows XP from the provided disk after the system became corrupt from spyware and didn't have any problems. (Of course I had to enter the code on the hollogram sticker during the install).
The patent holder for the mp3 codic has never gone after distributors of "free" mp3 players, so long as they were not being used in a for profit product. So download the source and build it for yourself..no worries. (Not true with mp3 ENCODERS, however you can still download bladeenc or lame sources). However because this limits your freedom you won't find an MP3 player in Debain main. Since Real won't give you the source, it isn't 'free' either, again Debain won't distribute it, even if Real says they can.
Also explains a recent article I saw on MyWay News that spoke of a mammal (cat) with a dinosaur in its gut, meaning that mammals and dinosaurs just may have been contemporary....
It's been an accepted fact than mammals evolved during the time of the dinosaurs. It was thought however that all of them were small, about the size of mice. More recently some larger mammals fossels were found from the period. Mind you we are NOT talking about primates here, just larger early mammals about cat size that could have eaten bird size dino's. This doesn't prove what you're looking for.....
The makers of computers and all the parts therein. Which means jail time for the CEO of Intel, AMD, etc if their chips are used to make computers that illegally download copyrighted software. Also let's not exclude the CEO of Bellsouth, Comcast, etc for providing the internet access that was used. Oh and finally Bill Gates for providing the OS.
Hopefully this move will knock the profit margin out of BPL (the power companies can't compete on bandwidth so they'd have to knock the price WAY DOWN) and give the power companies second thought toward even offering the product. We don't need BPL leakage shit polution.
Even when Sarge FINALLY DOES get released (actually it's so late I'd say when it 'escapes') it will be so long in the tooth as to be useless. I gave up on Debian about 1.5 years ago when testing wouldn't install any gnome or kde packages (it was broken for at least 6 months) and looked for something else. Fedora core was too buggy, slackware was interresting but has too few packages so I would have ended up building alot of stuff from source or installing rouge rpm's. I finally just went with Gentoo.
6. Should robots carry weapons? We must distinguish autonomous robot weapons from remote control armaments - unmanned telerobots supervised by humans. The ethical difference between the two: Who's responsible for pulling the trigger? Don't look now but the US air force is developing such a device and prototypes are already in service. In fact one may have been in use in Iraq. These are un-pioleted, armed aircraft that can engage in air-to-air and air-to-ground combat with enemy forces.
Depends on his employment agreement. Some employment contracts do NOT give the company total ownership of an employee's discoveries on the job. Could be there was a loophole in his agreement and he took advantage of it.
Reminds me of an episode of the Jetsons where George went to see a football game played by two robot teams. (The statue of Liberty play was rather interresting!)
The reason it would not work as a replacement for the i80386SX was that it lacked the integrated MMU. It is true that it only supported protected mode though, but it would not have been able to do the sort of unique segments with different protections for each app deal that a real 32-bit OS does.
Actually the 376 DID have a MMU. But it ONLY supported a segmented memory layout. It lacked the paged mode memory managment. Intel ripped that one out to prevent you from running UNIX on the 376. The embedded project I used the 376 for DID have separate memory segments for protection. I recall during debug often hitting the segment protection violation trap! (Usually due to null pointers!)
This question answers itself, though. Who remembers the 80376?
I do. Used that chip on an embedded project. It was basicly a reduced cost 386SX that Intel removed the real mode from. They ALMOST let it out the door with the memory paging mode in, but realized that if they did that it would be possible to run UNIX on the '376 and they wanted to force you to buy the 386DX if you wanted to run UNIX. So they ripped that out too. It was a neat embedded processor in it's day, but volume brought the 386SX's price down so low that the 376 was soon overlooked.
The 386 went from 16-bit to 32, taking all 16-bit apps with it, but there was also the very little known 80376, all 32-bit none of the 16-bit parts.
The same can be made of the Athlon64, simiar to the Itanium, being 64bit only. I know, that'd be a disaster, but now that we have binaries, linux binaries, and possibly windows, such a chip would be cheap, powerful, cool and welcome by some.
Would you buy a cheap laptop that will run AMD64 binaries real fast, but none of the 32-bit x86?
Err you don't know what you are talking about. The Athlon64 is totally BACKWARD compatible with the AthlonXP and Pentium processors, and will run all 32 bit x86 binaries just fine. It is NOT a 64 bit only cpu, but can run in TWO modes (32 and 64 bit) as well as running 32 bit binaries INSIDE of a 64 bit OS. The Athlon64 is a desktop version of the Opteron. The major difference between these two cpu's is the number of processors that can be connected together in an SMP system. (Opteron's are SMP enabled, Athlon64's are for single cpu systems.) Next time RTFM and engage brain before putting mouth in motion.
Actually what may have drove down the price of Video tapes were CED and Laser disks. RCA wanted to get their new video disk format off the ground and priced their software well below what pre-recorded video tapes were going for. Pioneer followed by dropping prices on laser disks. I remember getting video disks in the $20-30 range for movies that were selling for $75 and up on VHS. KMart was the Wal*Mart back then, and they started selling VHS movies (probably they bashed their suppliers heads against walls to do it) in the $19.95 range to compete against the video disks. The rest is history. DVD movies today are about in the same price range (adjusted for inflation), but when DVD first came out Laser Disk software was cheaper. Maybe stores just didn't have the room for the larger format disks, or consumers liked the cd sized disks better. Some will still argue that video laser disks have a better picture, but they were a dead end. HDTV belongs to DVD.
Well the rovers have been on Mars for one EARTH year, but not quite yet 1/2 a MARTIAN year. Mars DOES have seasons, so if the rovers landed in the summer, it's now winter there. If they make it a full Martian year, that would really be something!
Now if they will only fix the source code so it will compile as a 64 bit application under AMD64 based Linux. The currrent source is VERY badly broken in 64 bit compatibility.
I hope they reserve a section of the plane for "NO CELLPHONES". That way if I want to not be disturbed by the clown next to me on his cell phone I can simply not sit next to him. (Then again, if I'm flying jet blue I'll have my headphones on while watching the History or SciFi channel on DTV so I won't hear him anyway).
Maybe the new director won't have his head up his rectum and will see the sense in saving the Hubble telescope. The robotic mission isn't a sure thing and would only extend Hubble's life by a few years if it worked since it would render future servicing impossible. The risk to the astronauts in servicing Hubble isn't much greater than in going to the ISS, and even the ISS isn't safe (what with air leaks and roaches eating all the food!). Face it space ISN'T 100% safe and the astronauts know the risks and accept them (much the same as fighter pilots, ground force troops, policemen, mine workers, etc). SAVE HUBBLE!
this idea that oil is not renewable is ludicris. the earth is constantly making more oil. same with natural gas. Yeah, the earth is shiting and farting.
One idea for hydo power was to tap the gulf stream with a giant turbine. It was to be so big and revolve slowly so that whales could swim through it without harm (to either the turbine or the whale).
Another idea is to tap the power of the tides, I think they are already doing this in Holland.

So am I at risk here for buying Intel Pentium processors for my computers? Or from AMD?
