The difference between this project and KFSS Studios Project Majestic Mix is that PMM is a commercial product. This is totally free and does not cost anything to download
Well, this wasn't meant to be the full game. It was only going to be 10 scenes that the developers themselves choose. So a person going out to download those would probably be lost and wouldn't understand the game because the scenes probably jump all over the place
1.) There won't be 8 million forums for troubleshooting. You don't see tons of PS2 owners complaining about their games not working.
Unfortunately with the PS2 you do see this happening quite a bit because of the cheap lens used by Sony. Although I do see your point that setting up a graphics card to work with a computer game can be quite a chore for some of the average users. Maybe thats why some companies have started developing those consoles that can play PC games. Maybe those will help sales out some.
Sony is using UMD's (Universal Mini Discs) that will allow it to hold close to 2 GB's of Data. Thiw will allow them to fit a very high quality movie onto the UMD (not DVD quality).
One of the best parts about Sony's Press Conference was watching the Spiderman 2 trailer playing directly off the PSP's screen. Not to mention they also played a trailer to a little movie known as Final Fantasy Advent Children which will be released in UMD format alongside the DVD format.
Also in case anyone can confirm this, it seems that a Chrono Trigger sequel is in development for the PSP. Just found this browsing around.
Well according to Gamespot's article on the sytem, it looks like performance will increase.
Reminiscent of 3dfx's Voodoo2 scan-line interleave (SLI) technology, Alienware's "Video Array" technology allows two video cards to work together while running a game. Unlike 3dfx's SLI, where the two video cards shared the workload by drawing alternating lines on the screen, the video cards in Alienware's Video Array split the screen in two with one card working on the top half and the second card working on the bottom. Load balancing software ensures that the workload is evenly split between the two cards in cases where graphics complexity in one half of the screen is greater than the other. Alienware isn't ready to release benchmark numbers since the hardware is still in alpha, but the company expects a "50+% performance gain over traditional graphics solutions" when the system is ready for release.
Looks like this system could be pretty killer IF the price isn't insanely high that is.
Fileplanet has put up a monsterous 664 meg file that is said to be both Half Life 2 trailers (from Vivendi's booth and Valve's booth) and has combined them into one 30 minute heavenly trailer. Downloading it right now, but I'm not sure if it shows Counter Strike Source.
If anyone can confirm that it does show Counter Strike Source it would be greatly appreciated.
Mitsuda is one of the best composers ever to grace the game music scene. Chrono Trigger did have a spectacular original soundtrack, but Mitsuda is probably more well known for some of his other works.
Perhaps his best known composition would have to be Chrono Cross. Who can forget Scars of Time (Time's Scar). That song really brought me to listen to more of Mitsuda's work.
As mentioned by another user, Xenogears was also a magnificiant game and had excellent music. The music from Xenogears was epic to say the least.
Mitsuda also did work on Xenosaga, Shadow Hearts I and II, Sailing to the World, and Legaia Duel Saga among others. I highly recommend all of his works because it is just that fantastic.
Considering that a CD was released of the original Final Fantasy Concert (20020220 Music from Final Fantasy SSCX-10065~6, in case anyone is wondering) I don't see why Squre-Enix wouldn't release this concert on CD.
As for a DVD, the 20020220 CD came on 2 disc's with one having about 5 minutes of footage of the concert and some interviews with Uematsu and such. I really do hope to see a full-fledged DVD release of the conter this time though.
Actually, from what I've heard/read Square-Enix isn't on board with Sony's PSP yet. They are waiting to see how Sony's system pans out. (Not 100% sure on this)
What we all do know is that Square-Enix has already confirmed that they will be developing for the DS, so if anything, the DS will be getting a Final Fantasy game before the PSP does.
One of the peripherals mentioned was a battery pack to extend life, but then again, how many of us want to by an extra battery pack if we shell out $250 (price most people are estimating the PSP at) for the PSP.
Well... yea the DS looks awesome (can't wait to play Metroid on two screens) but I wouldn't say that the DS is better then the PSP yet.
The Sony conference really showed off some great games, and the power of the PSP. From short clips of games such as Metal Gear Solid, Tony Hawk, Twisted Metal, Spy Hunter, Gran Turismo, and a whole slew of EA Sports games, the PSP looks stocked software wise. It didn't stop there either. Sony went on to show the Spiderman 2 trailer playing on Sony's 4.5 inch widescreen display and then blew me away by showing a Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children trailer and telling the press that a UMD version of FF7 AC would be out alongside the DVD.
I think both new handheld's look awesome and hope that their competition really elevates the handheld market to the next level.
I am a high school senior graduating this year and I must admit that I am not the best in math, and did initially want to go into CS, until I saw the heavy math side of it and pretty much knew I would never make it through it.
What I observed through my school years is that teachers are relaying heavily on the graphing calculator to teach students more and more. Instead of teaching them the fundementals and concepts, it all comes down to mechanics. I finally had a great teach in AP Calculus this year that would not let us use calculators unless totally necessary and who went through proofs and the concepts with us. I have learned more this year then I did in my past three years.
Now that I look back on it, I wish I had had more teachers similar to her who would push the concepts, and make us work problems out by hand instead of just pointing us to a graphing calculator
I don't see how you can want Halo PC over Halo 2. Halo PC is such a horrible port, and it came from a studio that had a pretty good name (Gearbox). Halo PC's net code is horrible -- I get lag and I'm running a P4 3.0c w/ a Radeon 9800 Pro.
Halo 2 will def. bring a lot to the table not just Xbox live support. Dual weapons, having the computer driving warthogs and other vehicles, being able to hijack vehicles. If Halo PC actually had been done right then I might agree with what you're saying, but the horrible port ruined it for me.
Am I the only one wondering what the hell happened to Residen Evil 4? It was shown a while back and then nothing was ever heard of it again
Anyone got any news on what might have happened to it because the screenshots the put out looked beautiful and I was really interested in the storyline
Correct me if I am wrong, but in order to make a copy of a game for a home console such as the PS2 or Gamecube you need special equipment that isn't usually available to consumers or even pirates.
Being from a third world country where games and movies are pirated freely I have yet to see a game that has been a perfect 1:1 copy that can play on a console that is unmodded. Most of the vendors that sell the copies of games also sell mod-chips and tell the people buying the games that they need modchips.
Music has always been a huge part of the gaming experience to me. From Final Fantasy 1's opening Prelude to Halo's "Long Run" the music in the game sets the mood and immerses me in the momement.
One category that most gamers would recognize music from would be RPG's. I don't want to sterotype anyone, but most of the people that I have run into that listen to game music have been RPGers.
Music is a huge part of all the games I play and I usually end up importing the soundtracks from Japan.
"unobstructive system for copyrighted songs as anyone who has used their NetMD knows."
Unbostructive? I nearly beat the crap out of my NetMD because it didn't want to transfer mp3's that I had personally ripped off CD's that were original and I owned. That lead me to decide that I need either an Ipod or a nice mp3 player....
Kenshin on Cartoon Network is decent but buy the DVDs if you really want a taste of what the series can give you. CN's voice actor for Kenshin is horrrible compared to the Japanese VA (who was a woman, and yes it did sound great). Also the editiing of some of the violent scenes didn't sit to well with me, but then again I did watch the original uncut episodes...
The sure shot way to see if you are getting Hong Kong (HK) DVD's as they call them is to check if they have Chinese subtitles. Anything with Chinese subtitles can basically be considered bootleg. Only very rare R2 DVD's come with english subtitles.
So if you are buying off ebay or some other sites off the internet make sure they are coming from respectable names such as Bandai, Pioneer or ADV.
The truth to this article is that EA will probably always be in the top 5 just because of the sales it makes on its sports titles. Then you tack on that they also make other games such as Medal of Honor and you got them raking in major cash every year
The thing that surprised me was that Nintendo landed second place. I guess you could say it was their SP sales because until just a couple months ago, the Gamecube wasn't selling so hot. Square didn't make it in either but thats not a huge surprise considering they lost a lot of money this year.
Of course it isnt, Uematsu can be considered as a game music god, only second to Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenogears) IMO. And he is only concentrating on the main theme of the game, but I hope that he will give input to Sakimoto. Even so I like Sakimoto's style so it should be decent at the worst...
Well, this is a negative to the series, but I am sure that Square-Enix would not leave ol' Nobuo out of the loop and I am positive Sakimoto will be getting input from him. Then again Sakimoto is not to shabby himself. His work includes Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, and my personal favorite, Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter.
With this being said, I'm only a bit worried about the outcome of the music in this game. I'm sure Square-Enix wouldn't let their game music fans down.

Well, during the Sony press conference, it was said that the PSP battery life would roll out like this:
- Playing regular games: 10 hrs
- Listening to music: about 6 hrs (?)
- Watching movies: 2 1/2 hrs
Can't quite remember if the "Listening to music" part is right but I know that the other two should be correct.
