Crap like this gives me a headache, and the feeling of just curling up and letting the rest of the world go away for a while.
Am there...doing that. From my POV, the copyright/patent soap opera is becoming very entertaining, and probably should be copyrighted itself. Abolition will work. "You just have to trust us."
I see a lot of this "FBI is abusive" or "it's the government's fault", blah blah blah. Well I can tell you that there is not one american alive, including me, that can blame anyone else but the person in the mirror.
Just do it the old fashioned way...Yell out the window...
- Thank you for calling 911 emergency. Please hold. Your call will be taken in the order in which it was recieved...Approximate time for hold...10 minutes.(Cut to muzak)
I just hope we do it by election and not violence.
The problem is that the guy most likely to run against Bush is "Bush Lite". The stagnation and misery will continue unabated(?), but people won't react because they'll think that with Bush out of office things will eventually get better, but it won't, and the anger cycle will continue. In my lifetime this has been going on since Kennedy died.(he wasn't in office long enough to prove that he, too was probably a corporate stooge)
"feel good" paper tiger that does nothing but further gut the FOIA. Being on the outside, I almost want to see Bush and Blair get re-elected, possibly forcing the rest of the world to make a real attempt to effectively deal with what is becoming the american/european menace.
They're competing with Motorola over the same thing. It's possible Motorola has a better solution, and I wouldn't like Intel to be able to ram their product through certification just because they got theirs out first. Personally, I don't like Intel. They're just a cheap knock-off company(think back to 1972 and zenith?) AMD and Cyrix(?) are even worse knck-offs of a knock-off. I always thought that anything Intel can do, Motorola can do better.
They're caught up with too many pork barrel projects to focus solely on the shuttle.
But even the worst pork barrel project gives us something tangible. Pretty pictures, big numbers, whatever. All this IP garbage just feeds the lawyers to the benefit of nobody...except the lawyers of course.
I beg to differ. Clear Channel lobbied hard for the present restrictions. I personlly don't care to see community radio exist simply to bankrupt Clear Channel or any other corporate media outlet. I just want to have an alternative that can stay afloat. This shouldn't be too dificult due to the small budgets involved. I would like to believe that small station owner/operaters could keep these transmitters up with money from their day job if they have to.
I agree, but even the shuttle is more important than IP. Like the software biz, the lawyers are getting more action than the techs.(in more ways than one...heh.)

I hope it's soft and furry.

I hope that's as easy to clean up as bird droppings
Now THERE'S a long lasting standard...heh.

I have a serious question though: has anything ever NOT been ruined by standardization/regulation?
"Planes, Trains, and Automobiles"?
Price?...maybe?
Here is a perfect example of them wasting away our money on a program that even with it set to go to production, was canceled.
Are they THAT dumb?
You meant "we", right?
Unfortunately, in the United States, you don't scrap weapons.
They do, kind of...It's called "war".
And SCO would be selling "licenses".
If you shoot out the back of the boat enough times, the boat will move slightly forward.
Then it will move somewhat less slighty downward(because you just shot out the back of the boat?)
Call it what you want. Anything that prevents information lockdown is ok with me.
It appears that with Nader running, it won't matter now. The anti Bush vote will be divided up like last time. So expect "four more years".
I just hope we do it by election and not violence.

Last thing I need is to be using a WUSB mouse on a plane and having some kid three rows back taking over and h4x0r1n6 my b0x3n.
:-)
I'm pretty sure the kid will be occupied h4x0r1n6 the plane's autopilot. So while the ride might get pretty wild, your computer will be safe.
Clear Channel doesn't give a damn...

Too bad the Hubble isn't...

It's called "mod rule"
just throw everything into public domain, so they can spend their energy where it's really needed? Like getting the shuttle flying again?
