  1. Permanent Problem on United States Loses S&P AAA Credit Rating · · Score: 1

The debt and deficit are permanent problems. Raising the debt ceiling, while necessary, is a band aid. Until we change our policy of money as debt we are just seeing the beginnings of this problem. We need something like The Monetary Reform Act to drive a stake in the heart of debt and the central banks that own us.

Be yourself on G+ and FB... because that's the whole point of such sites. FB would be useless without real names, it would just be MySpace or YouTube w/o the videos. The value of G+ is that when i read Felicia Day's posts that it's actually Felicia Day posting. Or it could be that girl i hooked up with on spring break.

We are mites on the ass of an elephant. As long as you don't warrant the elephant's attention by biting it we can live out our entire lives without the tail coming down on us. Most people have an exaggerated sense of importance, the internet seems to be making this exponentially worse.

It's just bizarre how paranoid and egocentric people can be. i bet religion has something to do with it. As children they feared that Santa was watching them beat off to the Sears catalog. Now they think a G-man in mirror shades is watching them.

In the world of video games, any game with stats is lumped in with RPGs. Counter Strike does not have stats (or classes or levels) and so is just a shooter. Personally, i wouldn't call it an RPG, you don't make your character or any real choices.

i'm going to let you in on a secret. People who aren't you are different than you. They like different things. Which of course makes them evil and stupid. Now you can both understand why things you don't like are sometimes liked by others AND enjoy that warm feeling of superiority.

This is the sort of linguistic hijacking that pisses me off. PC doesn't mean that. That's what conservatives want it to mean. They are wrong. Just as file sharing isn't piracy.

PC means show some basic human decency, don't dehumanize with language. Originally, there was the phrase politically incorrect. Calling a black man a nigger is politically incorrect. The flip side of that was politically correct which is basically calling people what they want to be called, instead of a pejorative. Which is a fairly reasonable request.

As a joke, some conservatives started inventing silly terms to make fun of the PC movement. Now it's the joke that dominates.

  7. Re:PC? on Spiderman's Politically Correct Replacement · · Score: 1

In English, America refers to the United States of America. There is no continent "America", at least in the English language. We call them North America and South America, collectively named "the Americas". Note the s indicating plurality (two continents, not one). Note also, the 'the' in front. We do this because 'America' and 'the Americas' are different.

America with an apostrophe over the second a, is not an English word. It's a different word with a different meaning in a different language. What other languages do with their configurations of roman characters is not what English does with them. For instance, my wife might be embarrassed without being pregnant. Different languages are different.

    1) The budget is LAW. Not raising the debt ceiling breaks the law. And as a minor side effect fucks old people, veterans and any one else who uses the services that we'd have to cut. Oh, and one other piddling matter of fucking the global economy. But what's really important is not raising taxes, right?

    2) But that's a band aid. The real problem is that our money is debt. Raising the ceiling delays the next raising of the ceiling. We have to change our money.

    3) There's a solution called the Monetary Reform Act. It would wipe out the debt and put us on the road to a balanced budget. i'll assume you know how to use google.

Step 1) End the Federal Reserve. 2) End fractional reserve lending. 3) treasury dept takes over minting. 4) ??? 5) Profit and enjoy debt free money with imperceptible inflation and no more boom/bust cycles.
