i disagree. Illegal behavior SHOULD be handled by the cops. If someone assaults you at work, is it a work issue for HR, or is it a criminal matter? If the local bully beats up Timmy the bully should be, what's the word... punished. Beating up people is ILLEGAL. It shouldn't be dismissed as "boys will be boys" because victim and perpetrator aren't over 18. Should the Columbine killers been handled with Saturday suspension? Hell no.

Children should learn early on that some behaviors are unacceptable. That's not to say they should always face jail time, but we should impress upon them that actions have consequences. You can't just do what ever the fuck you want, even if you're really mad at someone.

To put it another way, child molestation is not a church administration issue. It shouldn't be handled by the church. The priest committed a C R I M E, he didn't get the words the Eucharist wrong.

  17. Dear /. You Don't Get It on Fake Names On Social Networks, a Fake Problem · · Score: 1

Many of you are paranoiacs, aspies and socially inept. Therefore social networking sites are something many of you just can't comprehend.

To people who have friends and like interacting with humans (some of us even interact with females), social networking sites are very useful. FB and G+ get their value from really connecting real me with the real girl who was in my geometry class back in the day. She and i could be posting in the same slashdot threads and never know it, But because she uses her real name on FB i can reconnect with her and maybe even... meet her in person.

For every site that expects you to use your real name there are at least 100 that you can use to be an anonymous fucktard. Let people with social lives have their fun and manage their risks. Stop condescending to people who WANT to connect with people as their real selves.

There's nothing wrong with telling people they are wrong. It's a popular myth that correcting people is mean. It's not mean unless you're mean about it. It's far meaner, or just plain lazy to NOT correct people.
