well they aren't doing a good job in ALL areas... i live in Cypress Texas and around the corner DSL and cable are both available but because I live on a rural road with "country people" they don't feel the need to extend the extra mile to allow for dsl internet or cable...
maybe some people want the fastest system around (at gaming, not serving, etc)... yeah in a few months itll be half price, but then theyll offer a 4ghz oc'd to 5ghz or something... so there will always been a top end... it just depends on how much youre willin to spend... personally I stay about a year behind the times on my hardware, but thats not to stop spoiled kids from getting the oc'd alienware
i work as a pc tech and a guy brought his computer in saying he heard a 'pop' sound and smelled smoke... i figured it was just a bad power supply, but apparently whatever 'popped' in the power supply set the motherboard on fire, melting the agp and pci cards to the board... amazingly the pc posted, but didnt get past the memory test:)
ive been sucessfully running the Longhorn alpha/beta/whatever for a few months on 1.2ghz athlon with 1.5gb ram and a geforce 2 mx400... i think its just what microsoft would LIKE for you to be running... longhorn actually has a smaller footprint once you tweak the services/etc than XP does on the same machine...
if intel has a fab plant in Ireland, how come i have NEVER seen a processor with Ireland imprinted on the processor? ive only seen Costa Rica, or Malaysia, or Taiwan...
I dunno man, I just watched the screener for "Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood" aka "Leprechaun 6" and it seems like a pretty stout competitor all the way across the board. Leprechaun 6 will prevail in 2004!
whenever we get closer to entering a new year there are always articles about "will linux take off in 199x, 200x.." etc... the answer is no, it's not going to happen overnight, we have a long way to go to the desktop, let's face it and stop kidding ourselves.
if you were from Houston and have read some of Dwight Silverman's articles, you would know not to take anything he writes to heart. He is about as advanced as a 6 year old girl when it comes to computer knowledge. And the reason the Compaq was number 1, I think compaq paid him to hype them, being from Houston and all. Compaq has released some crap products, but good ol' Dwight had nothing but praise for all of em.
Yeah this totally sounds like Apple's concoction of an advertisement. They just need some Strawberry Alarm Clock or other hippy-esque music playing and the people to hug when they are done listening to said music.
i thought green destiny was a sword that everyone was after in that crouching tiger hidden donkey movie... maybe they just wanted to sound cool and be like "I HAVE THE POWER, I HAVE... THE GREEN DESTINY!"
give me a practical example where two people communicated would need encrypted cellular phones. government officials would be an obvious example, but then again, they have better security measures currently in place, so they're out. i guess encryption would provide some comfort for all the paranoid, conspiracy theory people out there, but as for practicality, people SINCERELY concerned with keeping things between them will use better measures (ie in person meetings, private online chat rooms, etc) that would better ensure less eavesdropping.
Agreed, by the time everything is setup, you really have to break it all down to a per-unit dollar amount, at which point we'd be paying way too much to justify all the work to get there. And besides, that's what third world indigents are for, mining us up some stuff!
but, if you're immune to ebola afterwards, that means you can screw as many monkeys as you want, eat as many monkeys as you want, and also you can get bitten by as monkeys as you want. And, you wont have to worry about the consequences! Here monkey monkey
The company distributing the phones would need to have the ability to crack the encryption i'm sure. If ANYONE has that knowledge, the encryption can be compromised if information is leaked.
I don't think encryption on cellular phones makes much sense. It seems that the people that could really UTILIZE the encryption technologies have counterparts that would have the technologies to crack the encryption anyways (ie government agencies)
do you feel hesitant to click on a link that says "install spyware"? :) ...to install spyware...
not if THEY (iomedium.com) have anything to say about it!
dammit, RMS was SUPPOSED to be in that car, everything's ruined now :(

It's just like slashdot, except it's ugly and it makes me want to hurt people.
No, you've got it all wrong, it's a "Sam's Choice" Notebook.
