If my robot catches a virus and bites the kid next door, does it get put down or do we blame Microsoft? As soon as computers are given mobility security really does become an issue. What if someone hacks your robodog to try and kill you. "Hi my name's Chucky, wanna play?"
but wot about ppl who type in shorthand, I've tried typing in game chat into a transl8r and it doesn't work cos people don't type correct spellings for words in chat programs! Perhaps this will have a multilingual txtrs dict in it.
So true I'm 29 now and have a job I can afford to buy handheld PC's Big tele's and other expensive stuff but when ever I'm tempted to buy some techinc lego I get scared away by the price. If I had kids I maybe persuaded but if they knocked their prices by 50% I may buy lego even though I am well out of their target age range.
I found it very easy cos I learned this at school (20 years ago!). I was about to try and explain it but thought better of it and googled for it instead.
It's always amazed me that when I have an 'unknown file extension' it gives me the option to open in a program or look on the web. The look on the web page has always said it's unknown!
What's the point in books on software... you cant search them and they are out of date at time of print cos in a few weeks things have moved on patches released extensions updated, etc.
We don't need another image format... If you want better compression than jpeg then there are lots of alternatives. JPEG2000, Lurawave, FIF (I guess there are many more wavelet based options.) Unless they can convince Microsoft to incoporate the new image format in their browser it's not going to be used much.
So I'll just need yet another plugin for IrfanView or xnview so I can view it and convert it to a lossless format that i can open in my web browser, image editor or whatever.
The only place I feel I need better image compression is on my digital camera. And storage is getting cheap now anyway. I can already get 1GB SD cards off ebay pretty cheaply.
I'm posting really late on this article so no one will read this but the line of best fit for those points is shockingly out!
If i was to draw it then the 10000ghz would surface in 2008
All they'll end up with is EDOS Linux, yet another distibution with it's own cultish following. We already have organisation. Debian. 3.4 million euros for the open source community will be nice though, it may pay some of the court costs for patent claims.

The paper is one of the most important things i've found with my experimentation, generally the more you spend the longer it lasts. if you just use cheap copy paper your prints last no time at all. If I recall from print theory days more clay in the paper is better.
I've hoped for many years we would see something like this... I don't think they should be putting cameras in phones rather phones in cameras. I'm not to bothered now I can put a 1gig SD card in my camera but I wishes for a long time I would be able to send the photos on my camera straight to my ftp or something, esp. whilst on holiday.
Why should I carry a two cameras around with me? (one on my phone, which is rubbish, and a decent kodak 3megapixel one with 4xZoom.)
I've wondered about Torrent being an extension to to the http protocol for surfing the web. I wouldn't expect it to happen but if our web browser would just get data from the nearest node instead of the original site then the slashdot effect would be a positive one increasing your sites bandwidth not a negative one.
I've had this argument with a Mac user before... On the contrary I hardly ever use the minimize or maximize buttons. double click on the title bar maximizes and I don't need to minimize windows because I have a taskbar so I can click directly to them. The close button on the other hand I use all the time. I'm always opening and closing windows. That's my job I think!? I think I only ever use the minimise all windows button in my quicklaunch and it drives me nuts when I end up using a machine that doesn't have it. (I wish it wasn't red in XP though!)
I presume the model has an error or corruption it will adjust(break) the real components to make them work like the model.
Reminds me of physics practical lessons at school. Where we did the mathematical model first and then when the experiment didn't produce the correct result we changed the experiment.
Earth is my home.
Just incase you didn't know, you can already use skype from your wifi enabled PocketPC. It works great.

...everybody knows New Zealand isn't on the real map.
Most of those salts were quite nasty anyway, this has strayed offtopic now... but what salt would it be?

I was a little disappointed when I clicked on the teleport.
