One relatd question I would like to see answered, is what or has there been myths confirmed, that didn't really have a good explaination as to why? I can think of one early one...
The get out of Mexican Jail myth using electric current and salsa. I couldn't believe this worked better than all the rest, and to such a degree. But why the hell did it work in the first place, other than to say that the electricity combined with the salsa to eat away the metal bar...
#1) Fear is good, its a natural and it keeps people alive. You don't want soldiers that will run in the face of battle, but you certainly don't want sucidle morons either (I wouldn't want him protecting my ass anyway). As for pilots, do you really want to put someone with no fear at the wheel of a 30-100 Million dollar machine? Controling fear is good, having none is bad.
#2) I fail to see the connection with soldiers taking drugs to stay awake or fall asleep as to do with fear. Unless they have a fear of sleeping, or staying awake (how messed up would that phobia be!?)
ONe can only hope.... All I know is the price of a 32" LCD HDTV is beyond most people that can bearly get the checkles to afford the 360 in the first place with its steep 400$ USD price tag. I haven't see any real pricing in Canada yet where I am, but the packages I do see are 499$ which is pretty high (Which is slightly inflated over and above the US exchange rate as per usual). I just looked at futurehsop.ca and see the cheapest you can get one (32" LCD HDTV, which is cheaper than I thought) is 1299$. So for a xbox 360 package, your looking at (with taxes) about 2,100$... Now consider the computer system that you can buy these days for that much coin (admittly though with a 19" LCD monitor). Which is more flexible? Anyway its a wait and see what they do with the 360, thier launch so far hasn't impressed me much (to quote Twain):)

If Microsoft wants to Beat Sony and dominate, they are going to have to capitalize on the online play. The orginal xbox was a good first step, with the 360 they really have to step up. I don't see this happening. I was a PC gamer than went over to xbox live, and I can tell you there are problems, fairly big problems. The first problem is how things are run. PC games typically have servers, you don't just connect to what ever PC has the best connection or whatever. In xbox live you are essientially running a non-dedicated server on a 700mhz Machine with an MX video card. Whuptidoo. This is why games are usually limited to 8 players or less. Some games function ok with 16-24, but those are rare, and never more that that. I want to play with 32, 64, 128 other people damnit. Not this 8 player BS. Sure The 360 will be more powerfull, but its the same exact non-scaling problem. So it will be better, but in the long run who knows.
Also with local hosts, and non-dedicated servers you get the infamous Halo standby cheats etc... Whenever a player on a team is also the server you can bet there this will be a problem. The cheating has to be minimaized to a reasonable level or people will just not play.
MMO, get them! Get them now! Sure it might take some kind of keyboard/mouse add-on, but you got smart people at Microsoft, figure it out! I don't just mean Final Fantasy XXI or whatever it is called. #1 Sony already has that... big deal. They had it awhile ago. To my knowlege it is only popular in like Korea etc.. Get some World of Warcraft, some City of Heros/Villens, hell you got a Marvel Licence, use it!
Anyway I had another point about online play but I cannot remember it right now. BUt online play is especially important at the beginning as MOST people do not have a HDTV, and while it would be nice MOST are not going to shell out the 2000-4000 dollars to get one. Thus all you graphical enhancments mean nothing, so you have to provide something else, and that something else is new features and equivelient online play as PC.
I know for myself I am thinking of going back to PC rather than 360, it just seems to make more sense. I am on wait on fence mode right now, so something better happen in the next 6 Months to a year or you will lose people like me.

Well considering that Mars is about 225 million km (on average) away from Earth and that space lichen has a "floating through space" shelf life of 15 days.... which is 360 hours... carry the one.... Sweet Thanks for the update... Though I have heard nothing about the FF MMORPG though I remeber they did have one for PS that came with a HD. I will have to do some looking around online and get some details of XI (it isn't the same one is it?)
I would think they would be jumping all over the MMRPG type genre. I mean the one adventage that the Xbox has over PS is that they beat them to the punch for online content and games. You would want to capitalize on that as much as possible. Also seeing as these types of games are generally accepted as being more than slightly addictive it just makes good sense. However when I look at the list of games I see 2005 this and #6 of that... same old same old. Lets have some inovation (well at least as consoles are concerned). People have been talking about the gap between the PC and the Console and the users who populate both markets, but all I see is PC's innovating and Consoles playing catchup (and rather slowly at that!). MS should be captializing on thier strengths (online play, and release date).
If I thought that by buying the new 360, that I would go out and get a copy of Worlds of Warcraft, or Dark Age of Camalot, or City of Heros, etc... I would probably be more willing to make a leap of faith. As it stands I will wait. Wait and see.
Let the reviewers review, PS and xbox... and wait for games (such as halo)... but in the meantime probably more than a year will go by... all that revune lost... for shame.
Methinks MS isn't used to competing or something.
Though one good thing I see is they finally have Final Fantasy games coming out for the xbox.
Just something I thought about once and awhile. I myself am pretty blind, I also have a number of other genetic 'issues'.
With the advent of medicine and civilization over say the last 5000 years or so, could we actually be devolving.
What I mean is that darwinism and procreation but in a negitive context. That is I am pretty sure if I lived back in Unga Bunga days I would last about 6 seconds before being killed, thus not reproducing.
If this is the case, and our civilizations become more advanced and allow more people to live than otherwise wouldn't, won't this have a negitive effect upon our evolution?
I know its very SciFi, but eventually having people bourn crippled and proped up by science, technology, and medical expertise? I guess at somepoint scientist might be able to figure out (play god in the truest sense), and bascially custom make babies before they are bourn (perhaps even concived), making so called 'perfect' babies, or only introduting a limited amount of variation.
I don't mean to be crass but I wonder if there were as many people with crappy eyesight long ago, or respritory illness, or diabities, or any genetic problems, palsy, deformations, etc.... Could it be we are promoting these thing inadvertantly?
Anyway just something to think about. I don't see any real solution, and any solution involves some real moral questions no matter what. Taking the reigns of our evolutional developement is the basic "playing god" kinda thing, which for good or bad it happening now, and will continue no matter what into the future.
On the lighter side, with the proliferation of Hair implants for men, making bald men more suitable mates, and this altering our evolutionalry course. Will that mean that in the future all men will be bald?
No Spelling Nazi's please, I can't be bothered to go back and spellcheck for a fourm entry.

It also boggled my mind when they try to blame poor online sales on piracy. Seeing as iTunes is the largest online provider it doesn't surprise me in the least.
