It's a start. Apparently with all the agencies just giving food, clothing, medicine etc, that isn't enough. I think it's a pretty good idea. A computer itself isn't going to do it but educate them on how to use it and somehow getting them access to the internet so they can find information will be the start. Of course many of these computers may end up being traded/stolen etc, there will be some good out of this. They will have access to information that they would not normally have. Who knows.....

I don't use any "illegal" drugs but I do smoke and drink occasionally. From what I have read, nicotine has a higher addiction rate than most any other drug and when you first start smoking you do get a mild buzz, at least I did, and every once in a while I will get mild buzz from smoking.

I'm not a mac user by any means (I can get around and setup networking/internet connections due to being tech support) but a powerbook with OSX would be a welcome addition to my home.... Oh by the way..when I think of Mac users I think of idiots (due to these being the only ones that I noramlly talk with. They wouldn't have a clue if it was a Mac/PC/Coffee maker/headlight etc...) But on the rare occasions that I do get to speak with a real mac guru, I'm just in awe........ I think Apple has really turned itself around now if they could just cripple the Borg and start becoming the OS of majority maybe then we can start seeing some real improvements in the computing industry......

I'm expected to be able to spoon feed these people on how to work their brand new Dell and get them on the internet to view pages and get their email, plus answer any of their questions useing proper "keys" training each time and do it under 15 minutes or I have some "tech spec" coming around and asking me if there is any problems... "Go away you little PFY I've forgotten more than you'll ever learn." Anyway, with the amount of knowledge that you may have you can always suppliment yourself under the table by doing computer work, repair, networking etc... I start of at 50 bucks an hour for home users and 75-100 bucks an hour for businesses. Make sure to rate it just like a mechanic would.. if you work 1 hour and 2 minutes, bill them for 2 hours. (Of course if it's family give them a 10% discount HE HE HE :) You'd be suprised at how many people will shell out 50 to 100 bucks to have someone come hook up their DSL or Cable modem/router.
