    The abbreviations are useful in writing where "Gun shot wound" has five times the keystrokes of "GSW" And as to the collective time lost saying "Double-U" I belive the spanish pronounciation is something like "ouply-douply". Thats twelve syllables for "www"!

    For a tumor to form the original cell must aquire a certain few mutations of which one is enabling telomerase activity. If the telomerase is already active then fewer mutations are required to form a neoplasm.

    The other mutations include:
    * insensitivity to apoptosis by either disrupting the proapoptotic signal pathway (Bax, P53, effector-caspase etc) increase the expression of antiapoptotic signals such as Bcl-2
    * growth factor independence (ie constitutively active Ras)
    * insentivitity to growth inhibitors
    * angiogenesis, the ability to form new blood vessls

    in biomedical terms the ability to restore telomeres puts the cell in a higher "state".

    In my experience the big noisemaker often is the cheap powersupply. I usually dismantle it and jack the fan to either 5V or 7V depending on the severity of the noisemaking. It pretty sure it voids the warranty though... :)

    nope, he is right. i have the same issue with my thinkpad and i know for a fact no other components than the HD resides in that part of the laptop.

    you cant compare fallout to morrowind, they are completele different kinds of games. what made fallout so great, imho, was the brilliant dialogue (with lots of different options, which /really/ made a difference) and the well thought out NPCs. morrowind is a great game too but i really dont want to see fallout 3 "morrowind style"

    actually, you can change the screen resolution from the desktoop in linux too. at least if you have gnome installed. (applications->desktop preferences->screen resolution)

    there are ways to synthezise oil, it is just not cost effective. and FYI, the prevailing theory of the origin of petroleum IS lots of organic material (not dinosaurs howerver, more like plants) deep in the ground forms a kerogen which then decomposes to oil and gas.

    ive got an alpha 8045 + 80->120mm + 120mm papst set up like you describe and it keeps my 2500+@3200+@1.75v at 55*C full load (prime95). room temp ~ 18*C

    please dont start the KDE vs Gnome war... KDE and Gnome should both do everything they can to get better while sharing between them as much as it's possible without removing their individuality. . I would prefer to have not one but two great desktop environments to choose from.

    it is dangerous enough to have trains go through it... imagine being in a car accident possibly involving fires and other nasty stuff in the middle of the tunnel with over a metric mile to any of the exits...
