Can I do an image search or a news search right from the home page? I am not sure if Google Custom Search supports these features beyond a simple web search.
I am not sure what the big deal with this would be? You can easily get a voice input program (dragon, open source solutions etc) and bind a vocal command to a key press and roll your own. It wouldn't be expensive or difficult at all. Add a cheap USB headset, and you are done.
The US Unemployment rate does not count folks who have given up looking for work, only those being paid unemployment compensation. The true rate is more like 11 or 12%
My fiance has an investment account. She had pages and pages of buys and sells that had to be recorded. Turbotax has an interface that imports the data directly from the brokerage firm, the same forms that were mailed to her. It was incredibly quick.
The point is the libraries exist, programming does not need to be a 16GB Blue ray, code is so bloated and inefficient for the amount of processing power available.
I edit the add-on package (they are easy to download and are just renamed zip files) and change the version number manually and hope that there wasn't some fundamental code change in Firefox that breaks it. Maybe Add-on writers should push it up a few versions and hope it works? I dunno.
Nothing is "Free" someone has to pay for the development, and any ongoing services... Anyone who thought "Free" apps were produced via goodwill (even Cydia apps serve ads) is just Naive.
Community written apps that do not have to go through the App store. Sure Cydia allows you to pirate apps if you know what you are doing, but there are great programs I love (iFile) which allow me to do things the machine was not intended to do
That is pretty much the only reason I jailbreak. It allows me to access the basic settings (Wifi on/off, Brightness controls, airplane mode, etc) without having to go through several hierarchical menus. Its just a quick swipe at the top status bar.
I use RDP on my ipad on a daily basis... It is a little rough with 1024x768, but usable for the basic needs. I can set up a term app and do whatever I want in *nix with a physical keyboard.

Probably the reason that Apple has not released a 3G Ipod touch... I could go without my phone with that (Google Voice on my Ipad is my current home phone with the terrible signal i get on my Cell).

XBMC.org - Formerly known as XBOX MEDIA CENTER which was my favorite console of all time specifically because of this software package.
On top of all the VLC comments above... if you want a *Free* media center alternative... XBMC is the way to go.
