That is great for people that have access to broadband internet connection. Here in the great southeast broadband is hard to come by. If you are on a dialup connection you cant get any thing done with M$ constantly trying to download a fix in the background that might very well break your system. Thank goodness I only rely on windoz as a gaming platform only and do all my real computing on a Linux box.
Around these parts you just swipe your card through the swiper no PIN no signiture nada. So you steal the credit card of the person you wish to frame first.
I never understood it either. paypal screwed me out of about 70$ not enough to call my CC company over but on principle alone I wore them(paypal) out. Then a few weeks later I hear of thier IPO and how they had frozen thousands of accounts to make them look like they where worth more than they where. I am just so glad I was not stupid enough to give them my Bank Account info that they begged for so badly. I was coming back from lunch break a year or two ago and all of the sudden BAM!!. A car in the parking lot has a window explode. Upon investigation a large chunk of brown colored ice about the size of a bowling ball had fallen from the sky and crashed through the windshield of this honda civic. It hit so hard the rear glass was covered in glass shavings. Come to find out it was airline dung. Some one had flushed the shitter from a jet going over.Seems that the turd turned into a very large chunk of shit induced hail.
Unlike your basic Moterhome the head on a jet just dumps the waste out into open air. Very smart. I guess there is no rome for waste water on those huge airliners.
The WHO is still a relative band. I only have 3 or 4 of thier CDs. If they get copy protection applied to them I will go the bootleg route. There are very few good bands anymore. The last new CD I bought was My Morning Jacket. A very good band from just outside of Luisville K.Y. I still buy Cds from the good ole days Like George Thouragood and the Delaware Destroyers. I doubt that the Music industry will ever wake up and smell the roses. They cried about the cassette tape. The problem then was disco sucked and still does. I still have hundreds of albums (useless).

I tried the live run from the CD version of the Sun Java desktop. The EULA was almost an exact replica of a M$ EULA. Now on to the good part it has to be the poorest excuse of a live demo I have ever seen. I was not able to configure my modem etc.... It is FLASH enabled whoaaeee. It is Suse if I ever saw it. But for some strange reason thier live demo(SUSE's) didnt seem to be riddled with problems like Suns did. I predict an early setting for sun and linux they had better hope they can pull it off with Solarias or just sell the hardware without an OS would be thier best bet at stayin alive. RedHat and Novell are going to eat them alive. I see the sun setting now not rising.
Fedora isnt that bloated compared to mandrake Suse rh9 etc.With todays hardware hell my hardware is 2 years old on my fedora box and it works well. If I want bloat XP has plenty of that. Slack is the best distro for non bloat. It has to be tweaked a little more than Fedora. Hell Mandrake is broken I cant even get X to work on Debian period. Fedora/Redhat is the only distro that will use a PCI Hardware modem without having to create a symlink to ttyS4 why cant the other distros do this even Suse in thier windows like attitude a PCI modem wont work unless you symlink it to ttyS4. Do you think Joe Sixpack can do this? I find Fedora very stable the only thing I have had to downgrade is Grip. Everything else just works. I use Slackware on my older hardware. A good friend of mine's father is the king of rockabilly. He has had a recent resuragance in fame over the last several years in Eorope. The only way to get his CD was through amazon in the US. The industry put togather a greatest hits CD from old recordings from the late 50s early 60s. I think he told me gets about 15 cents a CD. I asked was it allright for me to make copys for my friends. He said to make as many as I wanted. Then told me he doesnt get anything from the Cds anyway. He got paid alot more for a cheap B flick that used one of his songs. There was a guy who posted the IP address and the root password all he asked was not to DDos him. I dont think anyone ever got in the box. I read an article in a magizine about a simialer setup and the people trying to break the system locally where also given root. They did not believe that they where in fact root and it had to be proved to them. This may be a different form of SE linux.

I choose to have both Desktops on my machines. I like choose. I am not so sure about metacity I think that I liked sawfish better but Oh well they both manage the window enviroment. If the iso's have KDE on them and it is Debian based I will be there if I have to add KDE from a different source then I will stick with fedora.

The next county over has a local telephone co-op that offers everyone in the system DSL. Bellsouth cant seem to do this. We do good on hot days to get our phone calls. Thier service sucks. Now to the subject at hand. My ISP advertises unlimited. But when I signed up I was told that unlimited was 250 hours a month and not a dedicated line. They cut your connection after 20 minutes without any throughput. I was then told that they rarely enforce the 250 hour limit and that I would probably never get close. They where correct I think one month I hit 100 hours after several allnight download sessions. At least I got an honest answer about the terms of the service I am provided.

The town I live in some guy wants to create a WiFi hot spot for free public wireless internet access in the downtown area. The Transpark Madam Mayor says that the plans look incomplete blah blah blah and blew the guy off. Said that any type of internet access would have to be handled by municiple utilties $$$$$$$$$$ . They dont want anyone to have anything for free. Even if an ISP donates the bandwidth and this guy sets up the repeaters etc.. But if one of her cronnies at the proposed transpark wants free wireless they will get it. Politicians make me sick. They are either too stupid or corrupt to get anything worthwhile done.
I have to agree. I had problems with fedora at first. No Flash plugin would work. The Nvidia drivers wouldnt compile then the ones that did where worse than the nv drivers. I finally got the time to research it. I found the compatlib for flash to work. I found a Nvidia installer.0 that worked instead of.1 or.2 that didn't worked. I had problems with apt-get installing the same programs except different versions. That was rough. I got that straightned out. Don't do upgrade distro or it will happen again with xvidcore. Do upgrade all. Now all I have is an unable to open/dev/pts0 does'nt exist? I have not had a problem with it. It just shows up in the syslogs along with modprobe cant find the following modules ppp compress and sound etc. Yet they always work when I need them. Those modprobe errors have been showing up since 7.3 and everything worked real good on that version. They should have just shined it up a little. That was the best version of Gnome anyway. The GPM wont shut down. It does when the power goes down for sure so I dont know what that is all about but shutting down console mouse service always fails again not a problem to me. With a little effort I have found that Fedora core is stable enough for my needs as a desktop distro. For a server I would have to go with Slackware or one of the BSDs
