I understand that Microsoft has used unfair leverage, but WHO HASNT? They all do it. This is corporate America folks... this is HOW we operate.

And I go back to my original point:

Why is it ok for Apple to use their unfair leverage?

Apple's OS comes with Safari, Itunes, Quicktime, Ichat, and many more. Hell when i install Itunes on windows, it basically forces you to install Safari through its automatic updates. By default "install safari" is on, and when Itunes goes to check for updates, it will install Safari. OH, but if you go to itunes's updates preferences you can turn off which "updates" you dont want.

Why by default does Apple, force you to DL Safari on windows, through itunes update?

The entire fucking Apple STORE is unfair leverage...

Everything Apple does is in the interest of APPLE. Microsoft has been trying to do the same thing, but with its balls cut off by some silly ruling.

Now i agree... MS was doing some unfair things with its API's etc, but come on...

Its time to let Microsoft do what they need to do. YES they shouldnt have some sneaky underhanded anti competitive API etc... but they shouldnt be forced to not include a web browser integrated into the OS how they see fit.

I want a better media player, without some EU or US judge saying "Well this media player is way too good... and the competition is complaining so... we find this unfair"

It cant work like this. Its been too unfair on MS... for too damn long.

Sony will never admit it. Kaz Hirai actually said this probably a month ago. I'm surprised it just made Slashdot now.

Kaz is a nut. He's said a few other insane things in the past.

The Playstation 3 is a failure at being "The worlds most powerful gaming console". Microsoft's Xbox 360 has more available ram, a better gpu, and all of the multi platform games run better and at higher resolutions on the 360, and the PS3 versions run lower resolution, scaled back effects etc.

Street Fighter IV is the latest game that shows just how lame the Ps3 is. Its running at 720p with 2xAA on the 360, and on the Ps3 its running at a resolution slightly lower than 720p, without anti aliasing and its missing some small details here and there.

The same thing with Resident Evil, Assassin's Creed, Devil May Cry, Grand Theft Auto 4...

The list goes on. The PS3 has consistantly had the worst version of multi platform games due to Sony's ingenious excuse of "making the console hard to develope for on purpose"

YEah right. Sony fucked up, and we know that by the very fact that in development, Sony intended the Cell processor to do all of the GPU functions, and then when it couldnt, they called up Nvidia for a bandaid, and hacked a nv 7900 into Sony's ass backwards architecture.

BTW when will console makers realize that we need MORE RAM, not bare minimum ram?

I actually still love my PS3. Its a great Blu-Ray player, excellent Media player, and Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Uncharted, MLB The Show 08, Hot Shots Golf, and Heavenly Sword... are some incredible games.

The PS3 is a valid platform, but for all the hype and bullshit and money that Sony through at the PS3... Technically its inferior to the 360 in every way.

What browsers CANT you run on windows? Opera, Safari, Firefox... they all run on windows. Where is the problem?

Perhaps the EU should also force MS to include other operating systems such as OSX and Linux on their install disks for Windows 7. That would be FAIR. (rolls eyes)

Steam's doing well because Steam has become a standard delivery for other companies games as well but how long will that last when EA gets their greed on :P

    ALSO:

Something i've been thinking about a lot lately is classic gaming. What happens when Steam no longer exists? Will gamers looking for a nostalgic game of Team Fortress 2 in the year 2025, find that they cant play Team Fortress 2 online because Steam doesnt exist?

The same goes with DLC on xbox or Playstation Network. For example Street Fighter IV just came out, and there will be plenty of DLC which includes new art, and game updates. In the year 2025, how can you go back and play Street Fighter IV on your 360 if the updates and DLC isnt available anymore because it was stored on a gaming network service that no longer exists?

A lot of older games do have patches, but are they still easy to find today? A downloadable patch is certainly different from an update that gets pushed through Xbox Live. For one, we the gamer have no ability to DL the update and store on a dvd, for install at a later date. At least with old video game patches, we could have possibly stored a back up somewhere.

I'm starting to see gaming become a "now" thing, rather than a "forever thing" like games used to be.

Thanks emulation, roms, old pc games, old hardware etc... we can still play yesterdays games, but will we be able to play todays games tomorrow?

Think all of this "pushed updates and DLC" from DRM networks like steam and xbox live will kill the classic gaming phenomena. Its a shame because I can still play Street Fighter 2, just as it was in 1994 but I dont think I will be able to with Street Fighter IV.
