Comic book films for the most part have been terrible. I dont care about their ratings, I care about their content! That is where they suffer.

Films should not be made to fit a certain rating. A rating should be assigned based on the content within the film. That content should be the artist's vision.

Exactly. I'm not saying America started this. This has existed as long as "history".

It just so happens that America became the pinnacle of hopes and dreams for freedom... and it was created out of that, perhaps with the best intentions but it ultimately was marketed and sold around the world and others bought into the concept as well... and It really amounts to nothing more than a dream because it never truely was a reality.

Perhaps the creation of America was that dream come true but it was merely a beginning, and not set in stone. It clearly is still not a reality. As many of the founders have said (and i'm paraphrasing), America is an experiment, neither given, nor sold... Its earned, daily. Its a constant struggle to push back our own human nature which is to control each other while at the same time our hypocrisy demands freedom from each other.

The founders referred to America as an experiment that requires enduring effort because they recognized man's nature to abuse power.

Just because we have a government, and a country name with a flag and some colors.... does not mean we are at all that we have fulfilled this experiment. If anything we are all failing it greatly.

Carnies and Rubes. When the carnival comes to town, the villagers think they can win, and they spend lots of money trying to win that really nice stuffed animal. Most of them end up winning cheap prizes that no one wants, and the few that do win those nice stuffed animals... they find out they're just cheap stuffed animals made poorly when they touch them. Its all a show, and the Carnies are making money hand over fist.

I think your example of the 1960's civil rights revolution really never happened. Hear me out:

Slavery took place because wealthy people enslaved blacks, everything was about power. Slavery had come to an end, and by the 60s when so called "civil rights" were won back by the masses, it really amounted to nothing. Those in power did not lose anything by appearing to represent the public. If anything they gained more power and support of the public.

In the big picture of things, everyone not in the ruling class, are treated like slaves. In effect Its no longer about race (which it never really was)... Its about wealth. Slavery was about wealth and power, not race.

Religion is about wealth and power... not god.

If i give you change for a $5 bill, because you need it to make a phone call, in end i still just gave you $5 in change. Nothing really changed except the form or perception.

In the 60's the public may have wanted civil rights, but in the end, they really didnt get it and what they got was slide of hand.

  7. Re:The Solution. (Apple pay attention, take notes) on New Lossless MP3 Format Explained · · Score: 1

I think you missed the point.

Its true that most portable players cant play FLAC. My point was that Music Libary programs such as Itunes or Foobar etc, should be smart enough to maintain a Lossless library, and convert them to MP3 or AAC on the fly when syncing those songs to a portable device. That way, if you're using an ipod, or whatever portable device you have, you're songs are in mp3 or aac and when you're at home, you're listening to lossless audio. That way theres no need to maintain 2 versions of a song in a single library.

I dont need lossless on the road. a 192kbps AAC sounds great, a 320kbps AAC sounds incredible.

The point of having a lossless library at home is to ensure that you're not locked into some lame lossy compressed format such as MP3 (which really has no future) AAC is better than MP3. I wish MP3 would die already personally.

Everyone should start thinking in terms of "lossless compression" for home libraries. that way you can convert it to the "compressed format of the week" at any point.

Its not realistic to carry around ALAC files on an iphone due to storage limitations. AAC sounds great at 192 so its good enough when portablity and space is a concern.

But i would NEVER want my music library to be locked into a lossy audio format. Its too limiting and has no future.

  11. The Solution. (Apple pay attention, take notes) on New Lossless MP3 Format Explained · · Score: 1

    The solution is simple.

Our music manager programs such as Itunes need the ability to maintain a lossless library and sync lossy AAC or MP3 to our portable devices on the fly.

That means you Apple. :) Itunes needs an intelligent management system for maintaining lossless for home and lossy for portables.

FLAC and ALAC (Apple Lossless Codec) are great, and they should be the standard. Apple should open up their format and stop being lame about it.

MP3 had its day, but sound quality wise its poor. It really needs to be at 256kbps or 320kbps to sound good. AAC by comparison sounds pretty dam good at 192kbps.

Apple if you're listening... iTunes is the slowest program on the planet. Fix it. (PC version and Mac) I can sculpt 60 million polygons on my PC in real time (in software mode, without a GPU)... but iTunes can barely scroll. Its pathetic.

Digital Distribution is not good for games because what happens if they stop distributing them? That would an end to retrogaming.

Digital Distribution would put an end to the used game market. I'm sure the game companies dont care about the used market, but it goes hand in hand with retrogaming.

Once everything is distributed over network servers, how will you install that game on a later date to play when that network no longer has that game?

Its bad enough that update content is distributed this way, because it means retrogamers in the future probably wont have the latest versions of then old games, they're trying to play.

I think its just bad all around and the concept treats gaming as if its just a money making system, and not a history of entertainment, art, creativity, craft etc that should be perserved and accessable by gamers at any time through out time, provided one takes care of their games and consoles etc.

I would not expect gaming networks and distribution systems to be maintained indefinitely on platforms as they become "last gen" or " the gen before last gen".
