Well at least they got the defendants right this time... (not the EFF, but anyone in general who didn't like the idea) I always said AT&T was the wrong target since they've basically got their nads in a vise grip with the NSA, FCC, and who-knows-who-else ready to turn it if they don't play ball. "Don't want to play? You don't REALLY need that license for this or that... or that spectrum of frequencies vital to your business model.. DO YOU?"
Isn't this all a little premature? He went into how shocking it was that he said it was going to be less than three years, but can't tell us more than that...
I agree it sounds like a good idea on the tech. side, but I *really* don't like the idea of staring into that much IR light for 2 hours at a time. Can you imagine if that caused damage?
It's a good bet you're subject to your ISP's AUP or TOS, like it or not, know it or not. Many many pages of fine print that usually raise the blood pressure of a customer doing anything other than plain vanilla email or web surfing. Chances are, your router running NAT violates their rules, somehow! After all, you should be paying them an extra $20/month for your TiVo or Vonage line...
It just got worse when Carmen Electra came in. The "set of giant golden nuts" jokes just kept making it worse and then they had the stupid mini-music videos with her just gyrating around. Sure, let her interview the people, but put her in an autoshop jumpsuit or something. The announcers weren't that bad... I know people complained about them, but they kept things moving fairly smoothly.... Bill Nye was in the first (or second or both??) season, and under-used... He could have had a better role... This is going to be a time where online content can really supplement the show and make it interesting for the geeks who want to see the interviews with the builders and some of the inner workings that won't make it onto ESPN.
Are you kidding? His family probably started suffering the moment he was born. Rights are nice to have. It's even nicer to exercise them. When it really counts. Has anyone ever heard the phrase, "Cut off your nose to spite your face?"
Right. Meantime, if I try to translate a letter written to me by a Russian business contact, whether I'm using babelfish or whatever hip new translator app, it makes us sound like retarded 8 year-olds to each other.
hey that's what I was going to say.:) Seriously. Put a daemon on all linksys/netgear/etc routers and have them log their own ip addresses for a while. If they stay static for a fairly lengthy amount of time, they sign into a dyndns.org-like server for a few hours a day, and become part of the pool for a while. Maybe have it dependent on their serial numbers or something.
Is it just me or is it really irresponsible for slashdot to link to this story? The last one I remember seeing posted was how to easily get sodium metal... I guess after hitting 30, the part of my brain that recognizes danger is finally fully formed.
YES. Thank you. This is the type of commercial I'll watch again and again. If they make it short enough, I might not even bitch about it if I am forced to watch it in a movie theater.... Well.. maybe I shouldn't get carried away!
To be fair to Art and George, they frequently get calls where some idiot claims to have a working zero point device or engine that runs off water. Their response every time is pretty much: "yeah, i've heard this before, but every time I ask for SOME kind of proof, they fail to pony up any kind of evidence or follow through. send me an email or arrange a demo for me or stfu."
I figure it will be tonight... Richard C. Hoagland will come on the radio show Coast to Coast AM and comment how great it is that they've released these images to the public that funded them and if not tonight, within a week will have found a rock that looks like a Martian refrigerator. Then he will find another section that is blocked out that he's sure NASA is covering up, and will want the audience to call, fax, and write to get them released... Any takers?
why the heck would they want to admit that when they have the ratings powerhouse otherwise known as ECW Wrestling?!?! Don't blame the shows for shark jumping. Look at the networks and their TPTB.
I don't know if anything was so bad it never got taped and dumped online, but it was REALLY really REALLY bad. Do yourself a favor and don't even try to track any down. Seriously. If you MUST know anything about it, check out the summaries at gateworld.net under Episodes.
I agree completely. Show me some nipples, and they get fined millions. Show me someone's heart being forcibly extricated from some fellow's chest, and it's entertainment! I'm sick to death of seing those nasty-ass movie previews on the sci-fi channel or anywhere else, for that matter. They're 10 times more disturbing than a cleavage or butt shot. And which is more natural?
Addressing the Andromeda part of your post, I'd have to agree. I didn't like it *too* much but it was tolerable. R. H. Wolfe was actually an executive producer. The problem was Sorbo.... They've just gotta start hiring actors that don't insist on becoming producers so they have so much control of the story. Same problem with Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner... My guess is it was their input that killed Nemesis and Insurrection.
My problems with TiVo: They have become Microsoftian in that they think they can charge out the butt for inferior service. TiVo2Go on a Mac? No. Sorry. They'll promise they're working on it for a few years, but it'll take (what will likely be touted as illegal) hacking/cracking to even SLIGHTLY level the field. All the while, I have my tivo hooked to my network and am therefore not using their dialup lines, (nor could I with voip) So I'm paying the same price as people using more of their services. All I get to use are season passes and programming data... for $13/month. $20 if I sign up now and don't want to do a contract..
Only if Odo is the co-host. And it's a weekly variety hour format.
He'll be lucky if he finds what's left of it... I hear meteorite hunters will pay quite a bit for them...
I suppose he or she thinks that it comes down to survival of the bittest?
I'm here all week.

If they like Star Trek (a lot)
I'd say that anything by Peter David is a pretty safe bet. Great sense of humor, interesting stories...

Ashamed? No way. Damn good episode.
No doubt. I can imagine a rush of customers desperately seeking a 1-inch thick titanium plate to stick between their laptop and their 'valuables'.
