  1. What about the woman last year? on Wonder Woman Gets a Woman's Point-of-View · · Score: 5, Informative

Is this really such a big break when novelist Jodi Picoult wrote Wonder Woman last year, and is a woman herself?

  2. Captain America on U2 Bringing Spider-man to Broadway · · Score: 2, Funny

didn't Marvel learn after the debacle that was Captain America the Musical? They even had ads in the comics back then saying you could possibly star in it alongside Cap. Of course, it never made it to the stage.

Personally, I'm waiting for the Batman musical Jim Steinman wrote.

  3. Glad to hear on Bloggers Immune From Suits Against Commenters · · Score: 1

Recently, a photographer had some of his pics hotlinked on a messageboard I administrate, we took them down and informed our members to not hotlink his pictures in a post.

Of course, this inspired our members to make other jokes about him and mention him quite a bit in other posts, which the photog noticed started showing up on search engines. He started threatening us because our members started making comments about him. It's good to know that the federal courts are saying we are protected when our members say the photog sucks.

  4. Brickfest on Tic-Tac-Toe-Playing LEGO Robot · · Score: 1

I was at Brickfest and played with this robot in person. It was actually a very cool system he had set up. The game also had 3 levels of play.

  5. Re:Webcam solution with authentication? on Finding a Customizable Webcam (and Other Devices)? · · Score: 1

I've been playing with SplitCam recently - http://www.splitcamera.com/ - and it seems to split the camera pretty well, plus allows the broadcasting of still images and video files.

  6. Re:Effect on Nintendo's target customer base? on Red Steel Impressions Roundup · · Score: 3, Insightful

Simple. Different commercials for different audiences.

You run commercials for Red Steel during wrestling and other male oriented programming. You run commericals for more casual games during more female or generic audiences, like American Idol. Advertise the kid oriented games during cartoons and other childrens programming.

Multiple advertising plans for multiple audiences.

  7. Bard's Tale on What Game Do You Love? · · Score: 2, Interesting

The original Bard's Tale trilogy was a personal favorite. I can't tell you how many times I played thru each of them on my old Apple IIE.

And of course, by extention, I played quite alot of Wasteland.

  8. Scaling buildings quickly on Review: Ultimate Spider-Man · · Score: 1
My only real complaint is the lack of a quick method of scaling a building. Having played Hulk, where the big green can surge up the side of the building in giant leaps, Spider-Man's slow crawl was somewhat frustrating.

To scale a building quickly in the game, press the L+R buttons, and like on the ground, you will launch yourself forward.

  9. Re:PS2 Exclusive on Soul Caliber III E3 Preshow Hands-On · · Score: 1

Soul Calibur was never available for the Sega Genesis.

Soul Edge was a playstation game.
Soul Calibur was a Dreamcast game.
    Soul Calibur 2 was XBox/GameCube/PS2.

  10. Re:Wow, thank you Sony... on European PSP Release Date Announced · · Score: 1
I'm pretty sure at one point Sony said Europe would get the PSP at the same time as the US - hah! Some chance of that happening.

They were supposed to be released together, but allegedly Sony postponed the Euro release so they'd be able to manufacture/ship more units to the US for the stateside launch.

  11. Video On PSP on Bandai to Ship UMD and DVD Discs Together · · Score: 3, Interesting

I commute daily for 45 minutes each way on a bus, and I regularly download television programs and put them on my PSP to watch on the ride.

I've seen the UMD movies that are coming out and have said that I won't buy them when I can buy the exact same movie on DVD for about the same price, but the DVD will work on my computer, DVD players, etc, and I can rip the DVD for viewing on the PSP.

If the price increase of a combo pack wasn't too much of an overhead, I would definitely consider spending a few extra dollars on the UMD movie in the same package for viewing on my boring bus rides.

  12. Re:Singalong on Animaniacs Video Game In The Works · · Score: 1

Because Clinton isn't in office any more.

They changed it during the original run in later seasons, after Clinton was voted out of office. The reruns are just playing the second opening.

  13. Re:Can you ssssmeeelllll....? on Doom Movie Pushed Back to October · · Score: 3, Informative

The Rock said in an interview that he plays the group's sargeant, who ends up turning into one of the monsters over the course of the movie.

  14. Shipping Rate on Gaiman Naming Auction · · Score: 1

What is the current shipping rate of a word?

  15. Re:8-bit masterpieces. on The 'Dear Friends' Final Fantasy Concert First Hand · · Score: 1
System of a Down also do a version of the Zelda theme, except they gave the song lyrics.

    "Link, save up your hearts..."

  19. Older Madden Games on Midway Fine with NFL Split · · Score: 1

Didn't the Madden franchise itself have to do without an NFL license in the past? Look where it is now.

  20. Lego on Classic Toys For Christmas? · · Score: 1
Even after all these years, I still love playing with Lego.

Between the ability to by bulk bricks, Technics, Mindstorms, etc. you can really build anything you think of.

  21. Price on DS vs PSP - Developers, Press Sound Off · · Score: 1

With all the discussions above about features and gameplay, what about price? Isn't the PSP supposed to cost twice the price of the DS at their respective launches? Won't that affect the sales at launch?

The PSP is supposed to cost as much as a regular console's launch price. How many parents want to spend that much on a toy their kids can drop/break/lose?

  22. Re:handheld on TV on DS vs PSP - Developers, Press Sound Off · · Score: 1

But if the DS is emulated on a tv screen, how would they do the two screens? Require you to have 2 TVs or just shrink them both down on one tv so that it's too small to see? And how would they emulate the touch screen?

  23. Re:Well... on Spider-Man in India · · Score: 2, Interesting

Marvel attempted to release the Spiderman and X-Men manga a couple years ago, but were cancelled fairly quickly due to lack of interest by American readers.

  24. How very Japanese on GameOn New York Consumer Show To Debut In November · · Score: 2, Informative
The Japanese have always had their trade shows open to the public like this, but it's cool to see American companies trying it out.

My question is what will they hype? Most of the holiday games will either already be out or in hype mode for holiday sales, so they'd be promoting that you can play games you can buy within a month. The months after the holiday season are empty, with only a trickle of games coming out. By the type the next round of games come out, it's E3 time already anyway.

  25. Fear Effect on On Gay Characters In Videogames · · Score: 1

Two years ago, Eidos not only promoted that the main characters of Fear Effect were lesbian, they even had the really racy ads denied publication by magazines, although, they did use some internationally.
