This last semester I worked on a group presentaiton for my Educational Psychology as part of my final. I was paired with three other students in the program. The presentation was on "What Makes a Good Teacher?" I wanted to cry. None of my partners knew what sound academic research was, how to use APA format, their writing was lackluster, and hated giving presentations. These are potentially future Wisconsin teachers. I was derided for pointing out that they were getting into a field that requires nonstop research and presentation.::sigh::
That was the first thing that popped into my head MacGod. It is really odd that the stacked competition efforts to sell a different product end up unintentially build buzz for Apple products.
I don't know if it is good or bad...
I've been let down by the lack of software. Lumines is phenomenal with its staying power. However, the only thing that keeps me going on my 1.5 PSP is the homebrew. I don't think I'll be updating.
Also, I have two dead pixels on my PSP. Getting info from SONY as far as what I can do with this thing is like eating a bowl of teeth. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. I realize that if any work is done I'll end up with new firmware. But the hackers will help with that issue...
"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was leaked to the public in (city) by (bookstore worker/six year old/daylight savings time error) thereby inciting (riots/the apocalypse/spontaneous seppuku) at a local (bookstore/adult store/comic bookery)."
I found your insights to be spectacular. I used to work in a Software Etcetera and make fun of Macintosh computers all the time. Of course then I was a hardened Windows user pushing software. I'm glad I finally came around and bought a Macintosh. The interface simplicity, and how much of it Windows derived, really sold me and now I own three.
...and of course the stories about you at http://www.folklore.org are an inspirational read.
In HP's online store the listing for the 40GB iPod lists that it is only compatible with Windows. Check near the bottom of the listing. Are these things coming preformatted for Windows/HP computers? Hmmm...
I'm still looking for a one handed keyboard+mouse+controller where I can type still type 60wpm and keep my other hand free to... umm... (barely audible) fast connection... (mumble) pr0n ftp...
I buy and sell used iBooks for a small profit. I was placing a new keyboard into a used G3 iBook 600. The connector on the motherboard is a flimsy piece of brown plastic that sticks out. Well I place the thread into place and the plastic snaps when I push it in. I was absolutely LIVID that such an inexpensive repair that I could do myself would now end up costing me a ridiculous amount of money. It irks me to this day. I can't use my personal iBook without thinking about it.
How obsessed do you have to be with your media of choice to plunk down a couple of hundred dollars for a heavy piece of hardware to watch on your commute? How much will new batteries cost? Given the cost, I might as well own a laptop which currently is the best all-in-one device.
I do not want a toaster that can play MP3s, I want it to make toast.
Lets just get this straight and not dive into the tireless Win/*nix/OS X debate. Apple is giving away some serious prizes. PERIOD. This isn't about a turf war.
Part of the reason you cant directly compare is because of the processor achitecture. PowerPCs and x86 based processors have differing binaries/commands/structures/etcetera. Photoshop is one of the few products on both the Mac and Windows platform that is almost identical in code and function. You'll notice in comparison between the two platforms Photoshop is a common program used.
The main purpose of using my Windows machine was using it with the internet. Through normal use my machine de-evolved into an unusuable sluggish piece of hardware. Not on just one computer but two.
There are so many options available that the masses just don't know about. (Mozilla for one.) Another problem is that people seem to think that if it isn't made by Microsoft (my parents back home for one) it doesn't work.
Using a piece of computer hardware shouldn't be a painful and frustrating experience. I don't want to click through two pop ups to get to content. I don't want worry about worms and virii every week. I don't want have spyware popping open my drive bays every hour and then tell me I need to buy a product to make it stop. That is RIDICULOUS.
Then I switched to Mac OS X. Well, you know how those stories go.
The best thing about wireless access is that if you think a professor is wrong you can find a resource to prove it to him/her. One ballsy guy in my class was able to prove our prof wrong and took the wind out of his sails. Not only does wireless access improve slacking skills, but also improves the quality of education.
The ScreenSavers on TechTV cooled a PC with this stuff. It is extremely expensive and evaporates insanely quick. This is some awesome stuff. Maybe 3M will drop the price if more people get into it.
Has anyone seen the commercial for the football game for N-Gage. Is it just me or does that this stutter like a 486 running XP? How in the heck did that make it past marketing?
The other commercials are just laughable. The games that are on N-Gage I could go buy in the clearance bin at my local videogame store.
There is a saying Nokia. It goes something like, "Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice..."
OMG I am going to buy all the antivirus programs I can for OS X and Classic! Then I am am going to delete all my gigs and gigs of music so the RIAA doesn't hassle me, and I'll erase my iPod too! I'll write a check to Darl McBride for a Linux distro I'm running Virtual PC. While I'm running that I'll fire up all my versions of Windows (except ME) and intall EVERY Security Update. Then I will delete everything on my HD so I will be totally secure from trojans/virii for OS X. I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world. I'm afraid I can't help it.
Remember a few days ago when/. ran the story about Linux on the iPod? It isn't a matter of WHY anyone with a G5 would want to use Linux on their hardware. It is because they CAN. Just like running Linux on a dead Badger.
If the movie doesn't start off by stating in large white text and a weak computer generated voice stating, "The last Metroid is in captivity. The galaxy is at peace.", I will be walking out. Super Metroid is the best game in the series. Period.
It's really a sad state of affairs for George Lucas when I care more about getting a hold of the whole Trilogy on the obscure Selectavision CED format rather than seeing the new movie/getting the DVDs.
PS: NO ONE gives a damn about Greedo. Han shoots first.
The hoard of people arguing about virii and worms in this thread is just amazing. I'm suprised people aren't bickering about the hardware level NX. No Execute? Sounds like a BAD idea.
The whole DRM thing is getting to be ridiculous. I shouldn't have to present my papers to the DRM gestapo every time I want to do something on my computer.
The disappointing thing is that most people who buy a Dell/Gateway/Prefab computer in the next 3-5 years won't know a single thing about NX and DRM. Only the geeks will know better.::sigh::

I knew it would only be a matter of time.
Just watch the papers people...
"There's... too many of them."
