I expect far more of Slashdot than publicising this crap.
Actually, I was hoping that someone might suggest some ingeneous way of dealing with this - and therefore viewed slashdot publicising this as a public service.
Glass is half full or half empty, depending on perspective
The game allows you to...
* Pull people out of their cars and drive away in them
* Steal military weapons
* Destroy property
* Injure and kill completely innocent bystanders
* Develop a criminal enterprise
* Carry out the orders of corrupt police officers
* Pick up prostitutes
* Burn down a pot farm
Hmmm... I've obviously been missing out! Have to get a game that lets me do all that!!
I'm not sure anyone remembers the Starlost series - only about 16 episodes. Poorlyl imlemented unfortunately, but the concept was really great.
It would be nice to see a revival of the Starlost, done properly.
We should turn this into a sport - lets see how many secret agents can be outted via the internet.
I went to Cryptome and found this article, that indicates that Cheri Leberknight, Eunjoo Ann Kensinger, Dave Robertson, Miguel Fabregas, Valerie Plame, John Spahn, and Rebecca Wolfson can be added to the spook list!
Ok... I don't know if I'd trust this solution or not (but if you're infected already, what the hell), but Direct Revenue LLC claims to provide a program to remove it:

Directs you to some program called "My PC Tuneup" - yah - they break it and then fix it when you complain.
Will the owners of elitetorrents have their day in court, suing the FBI and Customs for using their name?
I've always wondered on what basis law enforcment felt they had the right to make use of property. Its either evidence, in which case it should be preserved, or its the property of the owners, in which case they should keep their hands off, at least until a decision is rendered by a Court.
Actually - mod this comment up. IMHO this comment isn't even snobbish - its just factual.
I'm a grad of Laurier (business) and while I took my fair share of computer science courses there, I would NEVER have gone to Laurier for this when there are so many better universities in that area.
You are flamebait and should be modded down. The
Federal Court has already stated that merely downloading and making music files available on one's hard drive does not infringe copyright under current Canadian law.
They are not illegally swapping music.
What the CRIA wants is nothing more than a SLAP suit against individuals who won't have the resources to fight, while generating maximum publicity.
CRIA can think about this if they want - I'll be donating to the first defense fund announced, and I'll be waiting another 2 years before I ever buy music from a label listed on RIAA Radar.
"ut the way this information was presented, it made it appear as if there was NO (or very limited) CLINICAL USEFULNESS for treatment of HIV"
I was wondering about this too, but thought that perhaps there was a chance that they could utilise anti-retroviral drugs to bring about a near complete reduction of HIV virus, and that this vaccine might be capable of dealing with remaining virus such as that in reservoirs outside the hematopoietic system?
Speaking as a Canadian.... very well said. TO be clear though, we do have a lot of respect and are protective of our friends in the US, as they generally are of us.
We whole heartedly support the fight against terrorism
We just get upset when our VERY large friend to the south doesn't think strategically, becomes unreasonably impatient, works outside their network of friends, alienates most of them, and then opens up an unnecessary second front to fight an unnecessary (Iraq was well contained) war, instead of the War Against Terrorism.
In short, Bush has made the US has looked like a lurching, violent, idiot on the world stage
"If a site refuses my browser, whatever that browser may be, then I refuse to surf that site."
I actually converted our office over to Firefox, but now am in the process of moving half of them back. Why?
The new software we are using has drop down menus that only work in IE. (Apparently Sun got them to upgrade it so that it works with Mozilla 4.0 or something too?)
Anyway, the point being, many of us unfortunately have no choice. Worse yet, those of us who do attempt to switch can lose credibility with users, when software/web sites force us to switch back:(
speaking of games .... Empire is being redone too!

I'm thrilled that some of these games we love are being redone.
In 1987 I purchased "Empire" for my Atari and in the early 1990's purchased "Empire Deluxe". Empire has remained at the top of the strategy games list and anyone who plays it, knows why. Its addictive as hell! I still play my old DOS version, even today.
I just learned that Empire is now being redone too by Killer Bee Software and is now in beta! Yay!!!
Yes - and with Outlook you get all those nifty winmail.dat files too! Argh!
Outlook is big, slow, and bulky - and the interface isn't anything that thrills me. I personally find it kind of confusing.
I am slowly changing our office over but unfortunately I need a way to deal with Outlook generated winmail.dat files. If Thunerbird ever manages to provide that, I'm set and Outlook is out of here!

If I had points, I'd mod you up insightful!!
In case no one has mentioned it, take a look at the Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic. Information, action items and petitions on copyright reform.
Personally ....
I get the relevant facts about the bill together, make an appointment, and go visit them.

Why draft a letter? Call them up and ask them why the hell they are putting in place a Stalinist era ID regime! Just my $0.02 worth.
I'm a Canadian, but I well enough understand how to pick up a phone and call - especially for legislation like this.
Calling is quicker, satisfying, and far more effective. Surely there are toll free numbers too, if cost is an issue?

Turn based strategy games might fit the bill.
One that I particularly enjoy Empired Deluxe Extended Edition (yes, for those of you familiar, its part of the family tree of Empire Deluxe).
You can download a fully playable trial version at http://www.killerbeesoftware.com/ too, so you can test it fully to make sure its functional.
Mod this comment up!
I was thinking perhaps they play Empire Deluxe Enhanced Edition instead, like I am these days! :)
(No association with www.killerbeesoftware.com other than as a VERY hapy Empire player!)
I used to like IBM too - until I bought a couple of their hard drives and ended up replacing them both before a year was out.
Not fun!
Mind you, shortly after my experience they sold their hard drive division, so maybe the sale of the PC line indicates that the quality their too?

I've found that Spybot Search and Destroy" is actually better than Adaware, though I make no guarantees, and often use both.
I'd suggest giving it a try as well, though, for those persistent problems.
I'd love to convert a couple of people to Thunderbird at our office, but there is a problem.
Unfortunately they can't read those stupid "winmail.dat" files that Outlook loves to send out.
If anyone has a suggestion to allow Thunderbird to automatically read/open these stupid winmail.dat files, I guarantee two new converts, AT LEAST!!!
