I tottally agrre, but it seems these days prison is no longer about protecting society, but about punishing people. Is that what it's supposed to be? I think not. I can imagine it now this guys gonna be put in a prison designed for his type of criminal (the white collar). His peers will be poeple busted for smokeing pot, tax evasion, and other harmless folks, but you know what they say... who wonts to rule a country full of law abiding citizens. Yes a steep fine would have been the way to go.

Ceartainly it's over priced, but $100-$200 come on, thats not enogh even to tape a bunch of shit together from ebay, in an effort to build something like this.

Actually rape would be an appropriate substitute for "piracy" or "theft" in this situation, note this entry in the websters dictionary.

    Main Entry: 2rape
    Function: transitive verb
    Inflected Form(s): raped; raping
Etymology: Middle English, from Latin rapere
1 a archaic : to seize and take away by force b : DESPOIL
2 : to commit rape on

e.g. I just got through rapeing portions of an riaa executives pork barrel... via the use of bit torrent to illegally download copyrighted music files.

p.s. thx to Roget's New Millennium(TM) Thesaurus for informing me that pork barrel is a synonym for profits.

I'd say this a very poor decision on the part of the record companies. If they put in a infrastructure were cds are taken out of the mix whats to stop artist from saleing the wares directly to the customer once a large portion of the market is comfortable buying music off a p2p network. I think this could be the first step towards a system were the artist get the money they deserve. I for one welcome are new fileshareing overlords.

Meaning we that we won't be running games on our brains per se, and that it may one day be possible to interact with computer (that might be running games) on a lower level, (i.e. the computer still runs the game, however you can control the computer with your brain)

Thats like saying I wish everyone around me was stupid so I could be smart. Why do you feel the need to be better/smarter than everyone, i'm quite content with just being myself. It really wouldn't bother me, if other people had access to the same data as me. It would sure as hell cut down on arguements. And, to an extent people already have access to the same data as me (i.e. the books i've read, the movies i've seen, the webpages i've visited) BTW, what does a neual interface have to do with common sense, or intuition for that matter, are you suggesting that humans would feed their thoughts to computers that would then process the data for us and send the result back. Because I was imagineing a system that would compliment our OWN thinking (i.e. instant access to all the information avalible on a certain subject). Not supplement it/think for us.
