  1. I have a Pixel on Some Pixels Have Problems (techtimes.com) · · Score: 2

My pixel has crashed once on the Google Assistant. Other than that, no major issues. I changed from iPhone because of the 1) headphone jack, 2) iTunes is a dreadful experience, and 3) Apple destroyed their music app.

Copying music became super easy with drag and drop from Linux and Windows, and the Music app works fine. What I hate about the Pixel or Android:

    1) Google music app has no gapless playback? Really? 2016?
    2) When connected to bluetooth, all audio needs to go over bluetooth. Apparently, the OS does not know to send voicemail over the car speakers. The iPhone did this flawlessly.

  2. Imaging Software on Malware Taps Windows' 'God Mode' · · Score: 1

I still find imaging software the best tool for any Windows user. Just revert to an image before the issue, and 15 minutes later, it is though nothing happened.

I use no anti virus and have all my data on a separate partition. The image is of a clean installation with all my software.

No issues with Cinnamon or Mint 17.2. Everything works great, and I could not imagine using anything else right now. I have settled into Mint and Cinnamon since I like the interface and it is compatible with Ubuntu. Over the years, I have jumped around and tried different distros, but I have been with Mint now for years since they do everything right.

  8. Re:9.1 on Windows 9 Already? Apparently, Yes. · · Score: 1

I uninstalled all of the Metro apps. Therefore my Start screen is only used as a launchpad for my icons. I have boot to desktop enabled, so I never see the Start screen unless I need to launch an app that is not on my desktop. Windows 8 can be customized to work how you like it. I chose to make mine just like Windows 7 with all the performance improvements.

Everyone on My Yahoo is complaining about the same bar as it really affects small screen devices and laptops. I completely gave up on Yahoo.

  13. Windows 8 Workstation on Ballmer To Retire · · Score: 1

Why would they need a Windows 8 Workstation? Companies can standardize on free Start Menu programs like classic shell. From what I hear, major Computer vendors are installing Pokki for Windows 8 Start Menu since they can customize it.

Windows 8.1 brings back the start button. While it only takes you to the start screen, you can have it go to the all apps screen instead. The start screen is a full screen start menu. I removed all live tiles on mine, and pinned all programs that I launch on it.

It took me forever to get it installed on my clean system due to likely high download demand. I thought it ran slower than Windows 8.0, and iTunes hung like crazy when opening. Other programs will likely need updates when this upgrade goes final. They added shutdown to the right click start button menu. I cannot understand why they NEVER thought about making a SHUTDOWN TILE in the first group of tiles. that would have saved them a bunch of early adopter complaints.
