I thought the next step after 'drug them' would be 'Put them on a island, each with random weapons, and tell them to kill each other off before 3 days are over'
I guess that would only force them to respect the older generation, and not learn another language...
You shouldn't give sony credit for that... A good response for sony would have been to over-night you a box to ship it back in. Then, as soon as they get word of it hitting the tracking system, over-night you a new replacement.
That's what apple did when my iPod died. What you describe is barely acceptable support.
I had mod points, but couldn't find the paranoid moderation... Would that be +1 or -1? Even if there was a giant government conspiracy to control everyone, the government would be too incompitant to pull it off. Unless that's what they want us to think.
I bough my copy of Half-Life 2 in a store on my lunch break on tuesday and had no problems running it that night. Playing it from steam only took about 3 minutes (but it only unlocked half-life 2, not any other options because the server was overloaded).
It even ran great on my radeon 8500 (with pixel shaders on). The only problem is the rather frequent crashing that happens. It was worst in the first level, but still persists.
Maybe this is a problem with letting reviewers look at advance copies. They might think that any stability issues will be worked out by release, so don't mention them (or have signed an NDA to get their hands on an advanced copy...). I don't think it deserced 98% from PC gamer. However, if it was stable it certainly would.
Still worth every penny, and I'm addicted despite having to restart my computer every 10 minutes in the first level
Actually, Jail time is even worse than you think. Jail time implies a sentance of less than a year (which is why sentances of a year less a day are common). So they won't even be going to federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison if they only get jail time.
This may vary from state to state, but jail time is probably considerably easier than prison time just about everywhere.
Why not allow people with mod points to rate an article as well as replies. That way I don't have to read -5 useless or redundant articles.
Now to keep this on topic I suppose I should add some quip about Microsoft in Japan. There isn't much of an article to comment on...

Did you know the dreamcast sold more units than x-box the week the x-box was released in japan?[/M$ bash]
What sort of range and spread do these have?
If I were to get one I would want it with decent range (maybe 20 metres) but also with full spread. So that it would only take one button press to turn off all the TVs wihtin the range.
I could imagine causing havoc at the local electronic store's TV wall could be fun.
Actually both linux doesn't seem to want to open the pod bay doors:
$ open the pod bay doors
bash: open: command not found
Clearly more uncoroprative than HAL...
You can't expect the average user to never blink when using a computer. I mean, I wouldn't want to have to click on something every 15 seconds just to keep my eyes from drying out.
I guess they could have it only activate with a wink, and then it would only mess up when you got something in your eye.
Playing a first person shooter would be kind of hard though...
Why is this a bad thing?
It just gives more choices for security. Now if a sysadmin blocked these ports they better have an alternative to getting files off the machine (if files need to be copied somtimes...)
Also, anyone know how the blocking is done? Can it be on a per device basis, or just all external storage devices?
So, first we got infrared laser CDs, then blue light, and now ultra violet. So when can I get my 100 yottabyte electron CD that can store all the informaton in civilization?
Well, you'd be out of business soon. At least I hope these things get on the market soon. Instead of replacing your iPod battery every 18 months you just top up the methanol every morning.

Wait, that jesussave.us website isn't also a joke? Unless it's two satire websites calling blasphemy on eachother to create more satire...
No, they obviously had a file called 600000 which contained the string "600000\n"

Gah, now you made me paranoid

Come on, wasn't this on slashdot in 1971, then again in 1979? Don't the mods even check for redundant stories?

Do I have to plug it in and then wait 45 seconds for the java virtual machine to load before it lets me do anything?
Also, now that it has java, does that mean I can run Project Looking Glass?

Are you crazy? Liberals make awsome computer games. Conservatives should stick to what they are good at: action movies!

No, but the contest ran out of money just before the last two fights, so all the robots were replaced by squiggles.
