It's probabily more like when the zombies and monsters start coming for you your not gonna be game to open the draw, to do so means no gun or light. Maybe its like natural selection, all the marines that tried to get the ducktape from the draw had a zombie sneak up behind them and rip out their ass while they were opening the damn draw.

When I read this I wanted to skip the rest of class for the day so I could rush home and get Mandrake 10.0. Honestly I'm a die hard Linux supporter but out of laziness I'm still only a newbie, Mandrake is easy for me to set everything I need to, the Internet connection sharing makes my tiny home network a breeze to run and I feel much more secure with the knowledge that I am impervious to script kiddies.

IMO Mandrake is going to become the desktop solution for windows migrators who need to have ease of use as much as anything else.

If Mandrake 10.0 has been advanced as much as 9.2 did from 9.1 then this dist should be getting damn near perfect for what I want. Not that 9.2 is all that far from it.
Sigh....if only I had a hill close enough by for me to shout from.

Well you need to assume almost all of the water is recycled otherwise you would have a 1.5 tonne computer. The other stuff may well be the electricity needed to produce it which is a stupid source of data for countries that have other sources (gotta love the Nuclear). Of course some of this is being flat out used. But really if it takes this much for a computer how much does any of our modern appliances use, my guess is not much less.

  14. Re:even tap water... on Manufacturing 1 PC Takes 1.8 Tons Of Raw Material · · Score: 1

Well if you think about that even further using most of our current methods of water purification that would mean that close 99% of the stuff left over isn't really water but something else. Companies have to take out any of the nasty liquid stuff and a decent amount of the crud. But I would think if it was low a concentration of water it wouldn't really flow well (bearing in mind the liquid chemicals are removed to save costs).

  15. Re:Huh what? on Manufacturing 1 PC Takes 1.8 Tons Of Raw Material · · Score: 1

29 Acres of Farm gets around 2 million litres of water in Australia. It would be much more in other countries. So it doesn't make all that much sense that 1.5 kilolitres of water would make all that difference to any sort of farming for anything more than a largish garden, crops need a decent amount of water over their whole growth period, not just one watering. To drink sure some places would love that amount of pure water, of course you need to assume that you only have 100 people wanting to drink for 10 days (1.5 litres needed per person). This amount of water really is nothing, especially considering most of it would be used for cooling so it does not disappear it just rains on someone else's parade.

Somehow I doubt that there will be much of a migration into any kind of system such as this. A large proportion of the fishing industry uses as little technology as possible as break-downs cannot be repaired until the ship returns to port, maybe not until after then. That would mean a large amount of losses for a fishing company. There is no point over complicating things that can be achieved simpily.
