  1. No one REQUIRES two incomes on Judge Strikes Down COPA, 1998 Online Porn Law · · Score: 2, Insightful

No couple is forced to work two jobs. If a couple works two jobs, it is more likely that they are living beyond there means. That could be buying expensive crap they don't need to inflate their ego in relation to their peers, or they are in a mountain of debt, most likely related to the results of living beyond their means.

In the US, we have to have everything now, we can not wait for it to go on sale, and we deffiently can't wait to save up money to buy the product. I guess that is why the US has a negative savings rate.

  4. Eliminate Public Schools on Higher Pay for Math and Science Teachers · · Score: 1

The solution to this problem is easy. Eliminate public schools and move to an all private education system. That way the market will determine everything, from salary's, to tuition, to other costs. This way parents can choose where their children go, increasing the school's responsibility. The school would have an incentive in hiring well qualified teachers, because if they did not, no one would send their children to that school and the school would have to close. Teachers would also have an incentive to keep up to date in their specific sphere of knowledge knowing that someone younger and fresh out of college would be able to out perform the older teacher if the older teacher did not keep their education updated.

Eventually we are going to become extinct if not by an asteroid, then by the sun expanding into a red giant and gobbling up the Earth. The only way to eliminate extinction is to get our collective asses off this rock, into space and on as many planetoid surfaces as possible. That way at least a small part of humanity will survive.

It's not only trying to regulate Jack Bauer, but conservatives love 24. If one listens to conservative talk radio, Rush, Doctor Laura, etc. they praise 24 as an example of what would happen if we decided to ignore all of the threats over seas and just concentrated on 'domestic' issues. Nuclear bombs, virus's, terrorists making nuclear reactors melt down, are just a few examples of what could happen if the USA does not take the fight to the enemy.

The republicans have a vested interest in keeping 24 edgy, so they can continue to promote their fear campaign against the American public. The more fear they can install in us the more liberty the can take away. So the government can protect them. Which, ironically, 24 shows that the goverment as a whole is completely inept, and if it wasn't for one man, Jack Bauer, who operates outside the law, nothing would get done in the fight agianst terrorism.

Of course just yesterday, Rush Limbaugh was comparing himself to Jack Bauer saying that he has been warning people about RINO's for a decade and a half (he was specifically talking about the Govanator), If you have top Republican's promoting the show, there is no way in hell it is going to get toned down. Hell, who broadcasts 24? That would be Fox, which we all know is owned by News Corp, which is in turn run by none other than Rupert Murdoch, a staunch conservative, who has a helluva lot of influence with the current administration.

Unfortunately, the reason Torchwood would never come to the US is because the censors in the US would throw a fit about the content of the show. Way to much swearing and sex. The show would have to pull a sex and the city, and be picked up by HBO, not very likely for a sci fi show...

Of course, the gate can only translate verbal language and not written language like the TARDIS. That is a result of the Ancients not being as technologically advanced as the Time Lords.

That being said, I think the Doctor needs to get to the Pegasus Galaxy asap. They seem to have ZPM's and sense the Eye of Harmony doesn't work anymore (hence why the Doctor has to refuel the TARDIS from time to time) it could turn out to be useful. At the very least, he won't have to make continuous trips to Cardiff.
