This approach has been tried, and is extremely annoying to those of us who do know what we are doing. Last time I checked, Fedora Core doesn't even install gcc if you go with the typical installation (yet of course the Games and Entertainment package was installed). I guess this approach works to an extent, but be careful about carrying it too far. I also noticed several other things about Fedora Core that were designed with Windoze users in mind, and several of the features that they tried to make easier to find ended up being hidden from me; eg they changed the name of GAIM into Messaging Client...took me quite a while to figure this one out.

There are some games in every genre with great storylines. It just takes a bit of looking to find them because they get buried under all the other crap from EA Sports. And what's wrong with older games? Examples of games with good story: FPS: Deus Ex, Half-Life RTS: Command & Conquer series RPG: Baldur's Gate (and Icewind Dale), Ultima series, Legend of Kyrandia (Virgin/Westwood. very old but amazing graphics, music, and especially story. Lots of puzzles.) Hollywood produces just as many storyless movies as the gaming industry does. We don't need their help. Besides, not all games need a storyline. There are several ways to make a good game, and storyline is just one of them. Look at Dance Dance Revolution or Unreal Tournament 2k3/4. It's not always true but often time a story only lives once. DDR and UT have had me playing for years.

I seriously doubt I am alone when I say that my main reason for buying (and cracking) an XBox was to have an easy way to bring huge libraries of music, videos, and pictures with me to local lan parties. It is a lot easier to set up a temporary LAN of xbox's than a lan of PCs and having an easy-to-transport library of music/movies for when the games are done with is damn important to me.

"Who would expect a Mario game to involve sex, drugs, and grotesque amounts of gore?" They aren't too far from it now. Stepping on turtles, blasting things with fireballs, popping mushrooms, and have you seen the way Mario and the princess look at eachother? I'd say its borderline at best. Stepping on turtles and blasting things with fireballs = grotesque amounts of gore? Maybe in real life, but not the way they are depicted in mario.....I grew up playing mario and this is the very first time ive ever thought about actually going outside with the intent of stepping on a turtle or uproot a flower with the intent of launching a fireball at a turtle. Walking over a mushroom (not 'popping' it) is not explicitely a reference to drugs....or at least it isn't to a little kid. Anyone who even thinks Mario is trying to get fucked up with those mushrooms is old enough to have been through a D.A.R.E. class and knows all he needs to know to make his own decisions. Name a disney movie that doesn't have some kind of love involved....the target audience for these movies is younger than for mario video games, and i have yet to see mario do anything more than look at peach, while disney movies are far more graphic. i dont know if you were aiming for a 5 - funny or just fucking stupid..... whew damn that felt good. just got done trashing E.T. on imdb.com, and now this. I feel so much better now.
