I don't know whether the parent intended his comment to be "funny", but seriously, that's really all this law means to me, and I would guess most people.
Hmmm, yeah, I guess you would benefit from it, but this is surely an unusual case? I've never used an ISP who didn't provide POP access, and now I have my own domain. I just don't see that this surge in email space will benefit many people, especially since there was never perceived (again I may be wrong here) to be a problem with only having a few mb of space.
That sounds like a good idea if it's on the 250mb scale. You could sign up manually, then mail-bomb the accounts you'd opened. Opening four accounts wouldn't take long, then spam them, MS has to deal with a gig of spam. Pretty juvenille though...
Nintendo already has a large portfolio of portable games Woah, good point. I didn't realise the DS would be GBA compatible. I just switched to Nintendo!
Thief was the first thing I thought of when I saw the article. I bought that game on the basis of it being audio-orientated (opposite of your friends).
To be honest though, no other game I've see has made such good use of sound, or at least been so innovative with it. Maybe that one Half-Life boss..? meh.
Maybe if you don't need it you would see it as over hyped. Now, at home, we couldn't be without 802.11g. 100mps is enough hear, transfer rates are not a problem. It's just not ok (according to my folks), to have wires draped everywhere. Want decent speed transfers and NO WIRES everywhere (or at all)? 802.11g is the only solution I have found (and it works perfectly for me/us).
You're right, which is a shame. I just bought a Sagem myx-7, and love allt the features on it (sans 'tooth though). I don't want, in the future, to have to sacrifice feaures and connectivity for the sake of security, that's a backward way of working. I'm sure that as this stuff gets more common more fixes will appear, just like they have for regular PCs.
That's such a cool idea! I'm thinking, maybe use a NES emulator to generate a low-res Mario 3 screenshot, enlarge it so it's heavily pixelated, print on Gloss at 30"! That would look amazing!
I didn't think of that when I saw the page, but now that you mention it, not having ANY wireless connectivity is a glaring omission from the feature list. Still looks great though.
wtf, there's no comparison between locking someone up and taking down some information. if they DIDN'T take the info down and it was later proven that they were wrong to have posted it in the first place, they'd regret it more.
in this sue-happy society we've created no wonder there are knee-jerk reactions like this.
they didn't delete it, they took it down temporarily. when the law proved that it was ok to keep the content, it will be/was reposted. this is no big deal!
The problem is that the buttons have slightly different shapes in some applications and *that's* the reason you don't use Linux?
Don't knock it! If he's really ready to convert, and that's something that's stopping him, then this is just one more hurdle stopping Linux being ready for the desktop. To YOU (well, and me... and most people on Slashdot) it might seem like a small thing, but you can't underestimate Joe User's pettiness. It's important for HCI designers (for example at Gnome/KDE, but also the distro makers) to be aware of stuff like this.
What? No way! They're only going to filter known sites. It's not BT's job to go looking for child porn just so they can block it. What if a new website was put up, and BT users accessed it before BT managed to filter it? BT should NOT be held repsonsible then.
I wouldn't be worried. While the potential is there, child porn really is an exception to the rule. There have been huge police campaigns to try to remove child porn (and catch the perpetrators) in the UK. This isn't comparable to regular (nb legal) porn or other illegal materials. Child porn is considered a heinous crime and so is not tolerated anywhere. Warez and porn are largely more accepted.
I was looking forward to being really impressed by her skills as an artist, and to see something clever done with shopping trolley's. It's just a frame with the trolley's hung off it! That's lame!!
Don't you think you'll miss out on some great deals then? I generally only buy fairly cheap items (records/cds/games/components etc, never a full blown hi-fi or something), but if you're careful, the savings (and the fact that you can find items that aren't easily available) outweigh the risks.
IMHO anyway... it's up to you, but I'd advise you don't just exclude things because they look suspicious...
I personally wouldn't want to pay that much for just a handheld.
But it's not just a handheld, is it, that's the whole point. If this can replace your games handheld and your digital music handheld, there will be a huge market for this, not with 16-year-olds (Nintendos main GBA target market), but with 25's. That's where the real money lies, and Sony knows it. Nintendo gave the impression they were aware of this with the SP, but they'll have to work really hard with the DS if they're going to hold of the PSP.
But still, it seems to be that they're more comfortable dealing with Star Wars-related stuff than creating innovation in the game marketplace.
I can't believe that they're listening to the critics who shout "adventure games are dead!", because people shouted that, then Grim Fandango was a big success, then, a couple of years later we heard it again, and Escape From Monkey Island was a big hit. It just doesn't seem to make sense.

"Self-spamming"?

That's my thoughts exactly, I've always had all the storage space I need, and it's hundreds of times bigger than Gmail, WHAT IS ALL THE FUSS ABOUT!?
wtf? installing nVidia graphics drivers requires running a single file. you don't even have to work out which file.

lol, "hear" sometimes I wish you could edit posts...

(Cheers for the idea!)

to be fair, this happens all the time in marketing. at least iRiver admitted to it on the same page.

The British?

15 of these
I was thinking just that. For $350, I'd expect the rig to service all 15 users.
Actually, I'd expect that for 350, maybe not $350...

Ah, yes... on inspection you would be correct.
But still, it seems to be that they're more comfortable dealing with Star Wars-related stuff than creating innovation in the game marketplace.
