Heck with all that stuff. I'm still laughing my ass off that they're claiming Altivec emulation. HAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAA!! I'd LOVE to see you try to emulate Altivec on an x86 chip! 162 128-bit vector instructions. SSE3 doesn't even come close to that. I'm sure it could be done, but it would be slower than an asthmatic turtle. The guy running this company is a total twatwaffle.

It's not that they made money, it's that they had announced Halo for Mac/PC and weren't too far from releasing it when they were bought up by Microsoft. Then they delayed it's release for two years. They fucked over the very people that put them where they are. The ports were third party and the network code is shit. You get nasty lag when two hogs knock into each other on a 100Mbps LAN. I've been a real fan since the days of Marathon, but fuck Bungie for selling out like they did and abandoning their very loyal fanbase. Buncha assholes.

Maybe in the early days of the video wars, but Beta turned out to be a far superior format than VHS. The quality was better, less quality was lost when copying, the tapes were a bit smaller, Beta tapes last longer, etc. The reason VHS won was because a Beta would only hold one hour and a VHS would hold two when they were released. Later Beta tapes would hold 5 hours in an extended play format, and they'd lose less quality in the extended format as well. Sucks that VHS had to win.

  11. WRONG! on 'Opener' Malware Targets OS X · · Score: 1

Mac OS X will allow the user to write to the System/Library/ directory (and any folder contained therein) without root access. I know this because I JUST DID IT on 10.3.5. It takes a system administrator (not the same thing as root) password to do it, but most installers require a password anway. This could be a problem. Maybe 10.3.6 or a security update will fix this vulnerability.

Ah, but they're not just portable music players. They're portable hard drives with a music player built around them, and not only that, they're BOOTABLE hard drives. I'll bet anything that Apple techs love the things. They can jam to music, back up their data, and they can also install Mac OS X on it and boot any Mac made in the past 5 years off of it and use troubleshooting tools, you guessed, installed right on the iPod. The charging via firewire is really handy too. But more than that, Apple just made it hip. I don't give a crap, but I love my old 5 gig model. Every other weekend, I drive an hour to, then an hour from. The thing has been invaluable on those trips. Much easier and more elegant than a discman and a bunch of CDs.

Halo isn't really a sequel. In the chronology, Halo actually takes place BEFORE Marathon. The colony ship was en route to Tau Ceti for several centuries, remember. I don't see Halo as existing in the same universe. Wouldn't the Covenant have run into the Pfhor at some point? And Bungie didn't go to the PC side per se. They made several Mac/PC games, which was fine. But they sold out to MS and bragged about "Full publishing rights." BULLSHIT! They fucked their core fan base over with Halo! We had to wait 3 years for the Mac/PC version! They turned their backs on the very people that put them where they are today, the fucking sellouts. I hope Alex Seropian and Jason Jones (two men who I thought of as Gods as a youth) choke on the MS BS.
