Gambling = betting on yourself to win and get extra money

Gambling is games of chance. Like the roll of dice. Here, the chance is whether some big-shot shows up or not.

Insurance = betting on yourself to lose, and not have to pay extra money.

    From TFA:

you still get to go and enjoy the game

So, I get my $400 back and still can attend the game. If the game were cancelled, or I turned my ticket back in, I'd call it insurance. Just like flight insurance for a cancellation or missing your plane. I can actually see ways to game this system by buying game tickets, insuring them and then scalping them (sans the coverage). I get a $400 return on $30 and the ticket is still 'good' in that the final holder can still attend.

The state is producing a new class of 'shareholder' unilaterally that will take a cut of companies revenue before the rest of us get paid. I put shareholder in quotes because I don't see where members of this class will be required to take ownership positions (buy stock) as a condition of receiving the dividend.

In those cases, obviously you run your own VPN.

Depends on why you are running it. If I run my own VPN from home or a local co-loc data center, then it looks to the remote site like I am at or near my present location. One uses a foreign VPN when one wants to appear to be in that country*. If Evil Foreign governments can hijack that VPN, they can also hijack the sites I am visiting. So this isn't about me being safe from Evil Foreigners. This is about the NSA not being able to (easily) sniff my traffic.

*There are other reasons to run a VPN. Like connecting to an internal network or I just don't trust the local coffee shop ISP. But if I've gone out of my way to establish a virtual foreign presence, then in all probability I am connecting to a foreign site.

  20. What part is propaganda please?

Using the wrong terminology. Glaciers melting raise sea level. Ice shelves melting don't cause it to rise. Uncorrected, this news story could trigger greenies for years to come.

  21. This part of the glacier is over water

Then it's an ice shelf, not a glacier. Terminology is important in science. Not so much in propaganda.

  22. The void is likely a result of a net outflow of ice from the glacier over time

That tends not to carve out voids at the bottom of glaciers. When the terminal end of the glacier moves away, upper portions fracture straight through under tension, creating crevasses. One thing that does erode glaciers from the bottom is melt water. Either dropping to the base of a glacier through crevasses from the surface or due to volcanism underneath the glacier. Melt water is quite evident, so lacking that evidence, it really looks like volcanism.
