$28,000 per arrest could be cheap compared to the alternatives. You can use as many or as few drones to cover a given area as you need to maintain an acceptable captur rate. And drones can be moved more easiy than stuff that's fixed or tied to ground facilities.
Didn't we go though just this sort of thing when some lawmakers tried to subpoena Micheal Mann's communications regarding the backing for his research? And were these demands for information eventually blocked?
A bit of a logical leap there from adult content to kiddie porn. No one in their right mind uses Google (or other similar services) for sharing KP. Its just too easy to track the material back to a source.
The whole 'private sharing' means that identities must be provided. And that's the first step to a paid membership site. It looks like Google is getting into the pay-for-porn business.
People need roads. People put businesses next to well traveled roads.
And then the Seattle City Fathers decree that roads are evil and are to be replaced with Light Rail. And Light Rail will not be placed where the people want to go. It is located near property that speculators bought up, evicted the poor residents and expect to make bundles of money when the rail line is built through their neighborhood.
And then some smart-ass steps in and proposes a transit system that goes where people already travel. And is designed to be financed by the riders of that system. So no more 'three card monte' confidence games with transit funds. So the City Fathers shout him down and panic the voters into dropping the idea.
That's OK. Quite a few aftermarket suppliers are doing a brisk business selling 'Idaho Stop' bars for trucks and SUVs. These used to be called 'bull bars', used to protect the trucks grill and radiator from damage from wandering livestock. They work for bicycles just as well.
But seriously; cyclists already blow through stop signs without looking. And that's fine if you know what you are doing. But some kid is going to see a skilled adult doing this and follow the example without the experience. Result: squashed kid.
replace all your servers with new ones and decommission the old ones.
Nope. Keep the old ones running as honeypots.
Problem is: it's not just the servers. Some of the employees' PCs have probably been pwned. And when they connect to the new servers it starts all over.
Can't do that any more. Property taxes are based on the 'best use' of a piece of land. The best use of all that farmland is more data centers. So cough up the taxes, buddy.
They've got you in debt to the company store from the day you are born.
That's odd. I've used OSM, converted and downloaded to a Garmin handheld and done routing with it for several years. Yes, there are a lot of data holes to be filled. But once people start doing routing on the web site, they can more easily contribute updates. At least that's what I took away from TFS.
You are willing to install a Xserver on every desktop that need to display remote application but not a gtkclient?
That's right. The dependencies of GTK are quite involved. So if I need to send an app to a remote display and I can do so with only Xserver, why add more stuff?
Some Xservers are running on minimalist thin clients, diskless machines that load their s/w from EEPROM. I don't want to cram any more stuff into these than I have to.
miss their exit because Stairway to Heaven is on the radio.
In other words; distraction. But distraction can also lead to running over pedestrians crossing the street because you were fixating on something else.

Oblig. xkcd

Expect it to be the norm in 20 years.

What you did was your job.
Right. Part of which was blowing the horn and getting the inattentive pedestrian to shit himself.

Charge a hefty royalty for it.
what browser do you use?
Iceweasel 24.8.1 (Firefox on Debian). No Flash, but it works fine with YouTube and all the porn sites that support HTML5.
Still, it comes down to an error in their process. I'd bump them down to a CMM Level of 1.
They misspelled 'ought to play'. Evidently, there is no support for HTML5 video yet.
And, for the record, spreading your attention around is precisely what you should be doing while driving.
Looking for other traffic or pedestrians: Good. Looking for DEA agents in the bushes: Not good.
C#/.NET makes great dungeons. Resources go in but can't get out.

It's not about the software but about the data.
