The US Coast Gaurd announced today that they picked up a determined French refugee in a rowboat off the coast of Massachusetts. She has been taken to an undisclosed location for indefinite detention.
It doesn't sound that challenging. Slap a CPL on it and dump it on SourceForge. I think they are trying to figure out a way to make it Open Source, yet still retain control over it and derive revenue from it. Sooner or later, they are going to realise that they only have three choices, none of which are very good (for Sun):
1. Java is not open-sourced and falls out of use like most closed standards eventually do.
2. Java is released as open-source and they lose control of it.
3. Java is released under a pussyfoot-shared-source-with-lots-of-restrictions- but-we'll-call-it-open-source license which alienates the OSS crowd and causes open rebellion. Same outcome as #1, only quicker.
Overall, it doesn't look like Sun can win with this.

Chances are, flashing your PC with this BIOS instead of the MS approved DRM one will prevent your PC from sharing data with DRMed Windows PCs. So, DRMed if you do, DRMed if you don't...
Representative from the planet Pantopia announced today that writings on the Rosetta Probe have given them enough information to effectively decipher the Roman alphabet.
Scientist announced today that Europa, one of the larger moons of Jupiter, harbors intelligent life. ICANN immediately responded to this by insisting that the Europans chip in to help pay for the internet.
Actually, I couldn't find any info on the scale, but, let's say its 1/100 full size, the bombs would have 1/1000000 the volume (1/100 the width, heighth, length) so we must conclude that such a weapon would not be a practical deterrent for reasons which, at this moment, must appear all to obvious.
Yeah, I thought the future was supposed to cooler than this. I mean, sure we have digital cameras and cell phones. But then we ran out of new ideas and started combining things. Hence, the "camera-phone". It's 2004 dammit. I want a teleporter!
On a related note, a coworker of mine has one of those camera-phones. He sent me a picture of his ear.
A Microsoft representative made the following statement at a press conference today:
"Where are you going? Come back! You'll all be doomed, DOOMED if you use Linux. DOOMED! After all, our studies, err, I mean independent studies have shown that Windows has a lower overall total cost of ownership. I mean, c'mon, Longhorn's coming soon. It will be better, we promise. It has Pallad-- err, Trusted Computing. Doesn't that sound nice? Trust? Can you trust Linux? You can? Fine! Be that way. We have FIFTY BILLION DOLLARS. We can by and sell your ass. Hmmppphhh!"
A followup press release attributed the remarks to an overly tight necktie.
If a parse tree falls in Silicon Forest and no one is around, does it leave a log file?
Commenting upon their second place finish, Verizon and Cingular Wireless both vowed to try harder next year.

I just went to your site and clicked on an ad.
From the article:
"But we have seen instances where companies use that monopoly in an anti-competitive way"
Doesn't a monopoly imply a lack of competition? This would seem to go without saying.
Bill Gates announced today that he is broke. He said he had plenty of money a week ago, but it is apparently all gone now.
Fortunately, the amount of pornographic spam going around would effectively make this very difficult.

Because fewer Indians cost less than more Indians. Duh.
Does this mean that SCO is broke?

Does it come with a little figurine of Slim Pickens sitting on a nuclear bomb that drops out the bottom?
"How many times have I told you boys that I don't want no horsin' around on the airplane?"
Yes, except he probably thought his company would bring it to you.
