The wholesaler told me that he thought quality control was shut down because of all the bad drives he'd seen in such a short time. This was also about the time that Maxtor dropped their warranty to 1 year. On my third trip to the wholesaler, I saw two other guys in there with boxes of the damn things. Last Maxtor drives for me. I have a Seagate now and it's been perfect for over 2 years.

Funny you should mention this. I watched a tin-foil hat show a while back. The host was stopping psyciatrists outside a convention in Toronto. He asked them all the same question, "How many people have you cured?" Most said none. A few said that they helped a couple people and one claimed to have cured ONE patient. They were all kind of embarrased that they didn't have better success rates.

Buy more ram. Firefox will take longer to load the first time till it's in memory. IE "loads fast" because it's right in the windows code base. That is also why there are so many problems with it. Since it's tied to the OS, if the browser has an issue.. the OS has an issue.

I use Netscape 7.2 and yes, IE blows it away for start up time. Once I load Netscape the first time, any other time I load it it's almost instant because windows doesn't release the memeory that it's stored in. Doesn't hurt to have a gig of ram either.

Try it. It's way safer and only a slight delay after a reboot.

No, but not too many people break into homes and rip shit off to pay for a 1 buck bottle of beer. The drugs aren't necessarily the problem. It's the price and the market. How much do you think a bag of pot really costs? About the same as a pack of smokes? What about crack? I don't think cocaine is really worth $100 a gram.. but that's what they get for it. (or used to... it's been a long time since I really knew) I lived in a town of 10,000 people and you knew immediately when there was coke in town. The crime rate would triple overnight. We knew it was people trying to pay for drug "fronts" before they got their heads bashed in.

Insanity. Legalize it all. The ones that won't quit will OD. The druglords won't have any income. The price would be affordable to reduce crime. Let the gov't sell the shit to pay for the medical expenses that we're paying for now. Use any profits for education (the truth this time, If I smoke a joint I'm not going to axe murder my parents!, but I will die a slow painful death) and clinics to get people off the shit.

We've been way too dumb for way to long with this issue. You can't legislate morality.

You know, as much as I hate AOL, I have been using Netscape 7.2 since it came out. I find this to be THE most stable Netscape I've ever used. I prefer the integration of email and browser. I've tried Firefox a few times, but it just causes me too much grief. I upgraded to win2k and since my mahcine is finally stable, it really burns my ass to have problems with a program anymore. I'll use this os and browser till I can't use it anymore.

I've tried about 40 linux distros, and while I totally support their (open source)efforts morally, I'm too bloody old to put up with problems. I have yet to find one Linux Distro that does everything I want. It's getting closer, but not there yet. I do realize that Firefox works great on Linux.. I have not had that success in Windows.

If the idea is in the public domain, it can't be patented. Once patented, it becomes available for all to see. That's part of the process, you get the "patent protection" and the rest of the world gets to see what you did and how you did it. IMHO, disclosing any ideas would be very unwise. They could easliy steal the idea and you have no protection or proof.

I also believe the whole patent system is a complete sham. Patents are good as long as you have tons of cash for lawyers to fight and protect it. Any good lawyer can subvert a patent. Yes I have personal experience in this and I'm kinda bitter about it. Wasted a lot of money for this information.

If you guys are bored and want some shits and giggles, search the US Patent office. There's all kinds of stupid ideas there that will never fly and/or never be able to produce. Doesn't stop some lawyer from taking 10 grand from a bozo though.
