    I'd prefer "particle with non-zero real mass" - there may be no experimental evidence for imaginary-mass tachyons, but they're still a cool concept and I believe GR allows them.

    How many slashdotters are in the US? A lot of us aren't directly affected by US law, and while it can be argued that we have an interest in ensuring that it stays relatively sane, we've got a bigger interest in our own countries' laws.

    I wasn't talking about people in Mexico or Canada. I was talking about people in the US who can't find the US on a map. But it turns out I misremembered: it was only 11% of people in the US who couldn't find it.

    As a fellow American, I am ashamed and embarrassed for my countrymen, many of whom could not even tell where Canada and Mexico are.
    Canada and Mexico? I seem to recall seeing an article a few weeks ago claiming that half of them couldn't find the USA on a world map.

    To get a permanent seat on the UN Security Council seems to require nuclear weapons as a minimum - and that wasn't good enough for Israel (okay, they still deny having them), Pakistan and India to get seats.

    Nothing is truly free
    The cynical is often right, but not invariably. Although they're rare, there are places which host your content for free without auto-inserting ads into it.

    It's not filtering *ads*, but ^(.*\.)?ads\..* - and that's quite reasonable. How many valid URIs are there matching that pattern?

    so maybe we are talking about Anaquiz which seems to help you memorize the dictionary (is this why he doesn't know words' meanings but knows which are legal?)
    Most tournament-level Scrabble players know lots of words without knowing their meanings.

    I've played Boggle where you were allowed words from any language except English. But official Scrabble rules say that your word must be in a certain dictionary - I think it's Chamber's.
