  1. Cuba... on China Sets New Rules On Internet News · · Score: 2, Interesting

I made the mistake of buying the Generation 4 (The one released just before the iPod photo) iPod shortly after it came out. The screen on that one scratched just as easily. Sad thing was, I would have been more than willing to purchase a protective case when I bought the unit but they were not out yet! I believe the nano owners are in the same boat.

I hate to acknowledge such a post but unfortunately after viewing countless news stories and reading many an online article I have to agree.

They are now saying there is rampant lawlessness even inside the shelters. Rapes, beatings, etc. Do they think this will help their plight? Reminds me of the same behaviour that occured after the Rodney King inspired riots in the early nineties.

A year or two ago I recall a posting here on slashdot where someone had modified an XBOX (or maybe PS2) controller to give a shock when the vibration motors were activate. I'm not aware of how the 64-bit intel line works but it would make sense that a 64-bit machine would have 64-bit opcodes. Unless your machine has a harvard architecture you have the same bus for address and data so I don't see why the op-codes themselves couldn't be 64-bit.

16-bit micocontrollers typically have 16-bit op-codes; the ARM is a 32-bit machine with 32-bit op-codes. Why would'nt a 64 bit machine not have 64-bit opcodes? There would be a big benefit since you could squeeze more info into the instruction and minimize multiple access on the bus to do one instruction.

I probably just need to educate myself on 64-bit computing.

  15. G4 sucks, TechTV was good on Inside TechTV/G4 · · Score: 1

OK. So it's a Saturday night and I've been sucking down some beer so please forgive my rant.

I liked TechTV. They had some pretty decent shows that kept me entertained (Screen Savers, Unscrewed, ...) . I'm not a gamer but the FEW game oriented shows that TechTV did have were decent and I could watch them.

Enter G4. Their lineup sucks. I can not relate to half of the grunge people that are on their game oriented shows. I'm an engineer, I like tech and that is what TechTV had. I think that a major mistake was made when some dipshit allowed G4 to take over. Hell, I tuned in to G4 for the first time in ages and found that the Screen Savers was now being filmed in Los Angeles. Give me a break.

    Anyone else here with me?

Was it real? Then let's take the open source approach: Tell us what was wrong so that we can get that in the public domain so that the next poor guy/gal with this sickness can google to find a cure. Why would he be holding back if it was real?
