Actually almost everybody got their confirmation email stating that we will all be getting our copies of Vista 30 days from RTM release and same goes with Office; but you have to fill out a tax form for the Office part if you get both of them.
It wasn't 300 more like 3,000-30,000 people who are getting Vista and Office for free; this has been confirmed by Microsoft reps and on sites like Slickdeals.net where the deal originated and the deal lasted about a whole week. But of course Slasdhot didn't report about it and you guys missed out big time depending on your standards.
I also still enjoy my free sendout from Novell Suse(sorry said it) last year and continue to stay on my shelf for emergency use.
Well all I gotta say was where was Verizon 10 years ago when the cable companies actually got the whole nation wired; don't expect Verizon to care about its customers either from their track record and how they lock you into year contracts unlike cable companies.
Cable has got to be faster than the DSL you had; unless it was just bad quality service.
Yah some competition is better than nothing but like I said where was Verizon 10 years ago.
I have Road Runner in Southern California and they do not throttle at all.
Have had months of 150+GB DL/ and 50GB month UL/ with no problem whatsoever. Although our upload is limited to 756, I have left torrents going on for a solid week of maxing out upload.
People worried about their horsepower? Windows ME has come and gone with the problems of System Restore and bad drivers; people have moved on with their lives and that doesn't come up as an argument with common users as it was a different time in technology and came pre loaded on a lot of the hype of buying a new desktop. Vista actually runs a lot faster than XP when navigating and doing network activity; been running RC1, RC2 and now running Vista Ultimate RTM perfectly fine on all my old HP, Gateway and other customt built old computers. I loaded up all my extra computers with RC2 and backing up(Windows.old) has been very simple with Vista.
Personally I am sick of having a million little icons in my quick launch for every little thing I need to do; don't mind having an all-in-one feature with Vista that runs seamlessly and as a tech user I am competent enough to maintain my OS securely. No DRM crap or anything getting in my way when I want to burn an episode of a show to my DVD burner like I did in XP except now it does it all automatically on Vista and adds chapters to it. Drag- Drop and press Burn thats it and it works perfectly on my DVD player; every media file I have works like it did on XP, Red Hat, Ubuntu with Media Player Classic and every other Open Source program I have that worked before.
Rappers have been doing this a lot for a very long time especially with the Dirty South music going on and how most of those guys started out their careers with selling cds out the back of the trunk of their Cadillacs.
Same thing happens out here in Southern California and we are a major hub of music from all around the world; clubs like The Knitting Factory are places an artist without a major label can play sometimes and sell their cds as people are walking out.
Pennywise, Sublime and many other stars around here started making the runs doing backyard kegger parties, going to skateboarding demos at stores and getting their music known around by doing a lot of the grunt work. It takes more than that though and unfortunately the major labels are the ones with the money, connections and able to hold the major concerts; they are sort of like the bank in that you have to take a loan out but your credibility is not good enough to have it put one way by a friend who was trying to get his rock band(The Federalis) known around here.
It is a lot harder than most people think and to add to it that with popularity it is not always smart to go out on your own and not have some person advising over you or your money. You get caught up in the partying and lifestyle which can ruin your career.
Add to that it would be so difficult in todays circumstances to even get in America and perform that act without being traced back to something that it is not even worth the resources of a terrorist group to target people in lines. Even the Israelis know this with the amount of bombings they get from those fucking cowards that blow themselves up with the ball bearings that they target packed discos and buses.
Using visual objects as markers is the best way I find to move around Los Angeles; fast-forward the whole path you take and you will not be late to a jobsite.
Lets be real here and actually thinking that the pirates are usually the ones who know most about technology. Most likely the pirates will be the ones who find out that they are infected and will try to fix it; compared to installing it on Mom's laptop and never bothering to fix it.
I think this is being blown out of proportion and a little exaggerated.
Blockbuster just signed some deals to revamp their stores with the these movies and they are converting popular movies to the format now; just not a huge demand yet. People just 'dont care' in general about anything technical and know only that it gives a more beautiful picture and sound than DVD; nothing more and nothing less and that will be the selling point.
Anyways the Fry's Electronics Ads section had about 10 titles on the front page of Blu-Ray movies for about $12-15 last week.
Additionally one of the top selling items on the Christmas list this year are big screen TV's; see any news report and they will tell you that is one of the top selling items especially here in Southern California where a huge market is.
So that guy is first gonna want to get an satellite HD package of the sports for his HDTV and than a nice Blu-ray/HD-DVD
No more like L.A.P.D./Long Beach Helicopter Police like you usually get with a response time of a couple minutes or so; you should really just sit out one night on Signal Hill and watch the lights chase suspects through the neighborhoods and give lighting or use night vision for officers in dark areas.
Well you probably should have made a backup of the cd or just downloaded another one off the net and use your cd-key.
Oh yah and if you are a student you can get office for super cheap; like $20 whever they offer it.
Actually what they do these days is that they have found it to be inefficent to seperate all the recyclable stuff at the pickup point of the home and thus ended most programs around the country to give out the recycling bins; majority just toss it all together so it is a waste of resources business wise to distribute those containers. According to a statement by a major trash hauler BRIGGS in Southern Califronia and local news reports that it is better to just dump it all together and than have them sort it out on a conveyer belt. Oh the energy or robots used to sort this is unfortunately supplied by labor of mostly Mexicans; cheap but efficent energy.
Go into the T-mobile store and they will most likely unlock it for you; although I am in the U.S..
I had the same problem with my Nokia with T-mobile where I could not run any applications(google) on the phone or browse correctly; they set it and now everything works.

Hate to burst your white boy bubble; but this mostly happens in the ghetto and low income areas where it gets a little rowdy. Anyways you ever seen a black chick tell the characters what to do in a movie. "No you dumb bitch dont walk back in there hes gonna shoot your ass!!!"
Not being racist just showing reality; but dont single out random incindents in our poorer neighborhoods.

Have you even used Vista?

You are very right and the reason many Asians are very small because of the Rice diet.

There have been several incidents of the remote strap breaking also and it does not seem like a durable piece of line.
