    You're absolutely right, games released on DVDs in the 80s and early 90s were so expensive I can't even find records of the prices!

    Reality check: The medium for the games has changed. The only real comparison to be made is "What does one game cost?", maybe with some fancy math involving the average amount of hours of gameplay you get for your money.

    How do you know the encrypted data is related to the case?

    How do you know the encrypted data is not something that is, at least to the 19 year old suspect, even worse?

    What if he's secretly gay, his entire family are raging homophobes, and he KNOWS beyond the shadow of doubt that revealing his encryption password will get him disowned?

    If this was you, would YOU reveal the password?

    Actually I do get it, that was my exact point. If someone's making a threat it doesn't really matter whether it's coercion or extortion as you have no way of knowing if they're going to follow through with the threat.

    Hmm, come to think of it, there hasn't been ANY new scandals about CitiBank for the past half decade. I guess they cleaned up their act, so they're probably safe to bank with now.

    We only know what we know because it's something we see mentioned over and over again. Stop talking about it, and people will think things changed - or worse, new players in the game (ie. teenagers growing up) won't know there's a problem.
