Dodge ball creates self esteem issues.... Kids might fall if the play tag....
For the record living is a dangeous business. Injuries happen, you do the best you can to protect the kids in whatever they do but ultimately accidents can and will happen.
The key words there are "properly patched" I believe the intent of the original article was to point out the sheer number of attacks against Windows operating systems. A typical end user with a brand Windows computer, has no idea what "properly patched / setup" means and will hook to the internet without a care in the world. The same scenario except the computer runs Linux / UNIX or OS X doesn't have the same problem, as these are inherently more secure by design. Linux / UNIX is a stretch for the typical end users a Mac isn't. Nuff said.
I play windows games on my Mac Pro without any problems.... just a short reboot away to get Windows running. That is the beauty of the Intel MAC. It runs Windows for games and MAC OS for everything else. The (2) Dual Core Xeons seem to help run games pretty well too.
I have OSX 10.4.7 running on a 1999 G3 Blue and White tower with 384 MB RAM. It is painful to boot but operates well once it is up and running. I willing to bet you P4 will run circles around a G3. I would like to see XP run on a 1999 piece of hardware, forget Vista running at all.
2000.00 for a toy doesn't seem all that abnormal to me for an adult.
This really isn't a true toy; he stated he was in need of a new laptop. A decent Sony Vaio will set you back 2000.00 and can only run Windows. The Sony will depreciate like mad while the MAC can sell on EBAY, 2 years later, for 60% of the purchase price.
When I need a new laptop I will be doing the exact same thing.

Key word there is calculated.
Amazing how the "Peak Oil" time keeps slipping into the future. I guess the new discovery http://money.cnn.com/2006/09/05/news/companies/che vron_gulf/index.htm of oil in the Gulf of Mexico might push this back another few years.
There are numerous studies, that show married people are generally happier and live longer.

I'm not sure it matters whether they figured it out or the kid did. The end result is the same, is it not?

That those two OS's aren't vulnerable to those attacks, I think.
I remember it... I was there after all.
It will come pre-loaded with viral material saving you the time and effort of gathering it yourself.
No such thing as an EX Marine, there are plenty of former Marines.

You know what the diffrence between a Fairy tale and a "war story"?
Fairy tales begin with "Once upon a time." "War stories" begin "No shit... there I was......
Nice war story from a former Marine!
How does an Anti-Bacterial surface help control the spread of viruses exactly? I can see this helping with Strep, and Staph but not viruses.
With all the Pirates running about, the Earth is beginning to ice over Pluto!
Here in Georgia too..
Be nice.... Solitaire was updated too!
Was it still under warranty?
Let know the next time you plan on buying something so I can budget for the next hardware release. :-)
You don't lose your data if the display dies.... Apple does a backup of the HDD unless you request them not to and sign the work order stating this.
...or on a MAC, unless you run bootcamp that is :-0
This is complete BS. I have a Reef Aquarium and the hard coral grows one hell of a lot faster than that.
