    I did when I bought an eee 1000. I have some software and automotive diagnostics hardware that I need XP to run.

    I also made it dual boot and spend most of my netbook time running Linux.

    That's nothing new. Pay attention to who uses the "but but but someone else did x" excuse. 9 times out of 10 it's a right winger using that excuse.

    Even if you are a right winger, try it keeping track of which adults use that excuse.

    I wouldn't accept the "The (some other kid) does it" excuse from my son when he was 8 years old. That puts the level of moral development of those who do use that flaky justification at less than I expect from an 8 year old.

    I just got an ASUS eee 1000h with 160G hard drive. 10 inch screen and weighs a hair over 3 lbs. Google Maps and Earth are very usable and I'm an old phart with bad eyesight. The keyboard is 92% of standard size and is easy to use. It's big for a netbook but way better than a normal notebook for travel.

    It came with XP Home, I just added a Ubuntu eee which is Ubuntu optimized for the eee. Price was $470 at Amazon.

    It's what I was waiting for since the first rumors of netbooks were leaked.

    Acer and MSI make comparable models.

    You can get fairly good terrestrial radio coverage in mountain country from local stations. It may get fuzzy sounding occasionally, but it doesn't just plain drop out frequently like sat radio.

    Banjo music gets tiresome though.

    That depends on where you live. Some US states if the traffic device is defective, then you have a valid defense.

    As in all cases, court is a crapshoot, so what the law actually says might not help you.

    It won't have much effect on price because it's price will be determined by world prices and 100 billion barrels over a decade or two isn't enough to significantly drop world prices.

    Since I didn't say that they weren't effective now, you aren't actually arguing against what I said. Other than that nit-pick, I agree with what you said. :^)

    However, just think what our keepers would be doing to us if the terrorists made monthly or weekly devastating attacks on the US instead of less than one per decade.
